I noticed you said your LO was puking all the time and had an NG. Have you had any testing done for Delayed Gastrict Emptying?? Alot of kiddos who puke all the time had emptying issues. Most dr wont ask about it until you bring it up. Just a thoguht.!!!!!

One more t hing...LOL

Since you ahve had the NG for 4 months already have you discussed a G tube. I know with Jedd the NG was one of th worse things for his averiosn. We had a crapy GI who didn't want to place a G so we were stuck for a LONG time with the NG, 8.5 months in all. We hated it as well. We love our G tube!!!! It is soo much eaier and his aversion got better with out the NG.

Catherine, 24-weeker, released from NICU on Zantac. Soon had NG tube due to FTT and GERD. Increasing oral defensiveness, now 100% tube fed after 4mths at home. Currently on breastmilk only, and still puking all the time. Mom just started Dr. Sears Elimination Diet.
We haven't had much in the way of testing, though we have ruled out obvious anatomical problems (upper GI scan) and pyloric stenosis.

I've read a little about the Delayed Gastric Emptying, but I'm not familiar with the tests available for it. I did talk with both the general pedi and a pedi GI about Reglan-type meds. They were both reluctant to prescribe them to DD because of the high prevalence of side effects.,/p>

I have kept her on BM as much as possible because I hoped that it would be the easiest to digest and therefore the quickest to leave her stomach.

Most of her vomiting happens during or right after a feeding. It's not typical for her to puke an hour later.

We're in the process of getting a G-tube. At the moment DH is not ready to weather the hospital stay - although many people have told us that it is usually just an overnight stay, the hospital we are working with was going to have us stay longer. I haven't found out why.

Check with your
doctor first!
