Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.

I was calling a specific baby nurse/baby provider company I've heard great things about. They provide nannies, babysitters and RN's. Well I asked about temporary help now and then so that I can go to various doctor appointments and such for myself w/out having to take Keira and have her screaming. Well this company said just to send a sitter out who is not a nurse or a certified nanny- is $18.00 PER HOUR!!!! With a set up fee for the agency of $12.00 per time I would need a sitter! I think you should up your prices, girlfriend! It's like I'd be spending $70 plus they like tips for three hours?!?! Ugh...I don't think I'm ever going to find someone to help out. GRRRRRRR.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Wow! I need to work for an agency like that. Of course the sitter prob still only makes minimum wage!

I don't even make 18/hour for all the kids I have in care combined. Wow and a $12 per day bonus. I don't think I could get by with those rate though. Darn!

Hmmm as far as what the sitters make? Well the lady said it depends on each sitter's individual rates so I'm not sure if that's their own money or not. I just know the agency gets an instant $12.00 off a temporary sitter service. BUT if you ask for a nurse or a nanny for pt/ft care then the agency gets a huge cut off the top. Amber-I know what ya mean. I wish ya lived closer! :)

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
Just a thought....do you qualify for Medicaid. You can get on the waiver list for Respite care......Medicaid pays for it through the Respite waiver. The laws differ from state to state so you would have to call. You can talk to the people at Early Interention and talk to one of the Medical Co-ordinators. They should know the laws REALLY well for your area.

BTW I wish I had known this for Jedd. He would have qualified before his heart reapir and boy coudl we have used it. Not only the respite care but just being on Medicaid.....Even with as little as DH makes, we still don't qualify. VA stinks....
