This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
OT - warning...rx insurance vent ahead
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Can I reiterate how UNREASONABLE some insurance companies are?!?! We've had to go to mandatory mail order Rx for maintanence drugs, so of course the Pepcid and Prevacid for Allie falls in this category. After 2 months of fighting, I FINALLY got then to allow me to pick up the Pepcid at a local pharmacy due to the fact it is only usable for 30 days. This is after basically explaining chemical reactions and half-life to 7, yes 7 different people. Chemistry was not my strongest subject, but I understand that part!

Now for the prevacid - I had no issue with this being mail-order, but we have the savings card. I was told to send the beyond the burn info with the Rx and it would be taken care of. WRONG! Now, even after having 2 people verify that they accept this, apparently they DON'T, and so I now have to pay the copay (which is higher now that it's through the mail, PLUS shipping costs.) I finally yelled at one supervisor "HOW IS THIS SAVING ME TIME, EFFORT, AND MONEY?!?" To which they had no reply.

Please pray hard that my hubby gets this other job and we can get rid of this freaking rx service!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I hear ya. We are paying out of pocket for our insurance right now. It is horrible. We have to pay for all Rx. It really stinks. My dh is starting something new here soon also...it is not happening soon enough. All I can say, is that i totally understand. We should not have to fight so hard just to get our kids the meds they NEED at an affordable cost.

ugh i bet we have the SAME insurance! Dh's work picked up a prescription card provider instead of just haveing the health insurance co cover it. There was a 200$ copay, per family member. it was only after we payed it we found out that they didn't cover prevacid and they wanted to put us on the at home mailing program ugh!

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
UUUgggghhhh!! Sorry!!! I actually use the mail order service since it is so hard to go to the pharmacy to pick it up. This is sad since it is under 5 miles away, but you all have gerdlings so you know what that is like!!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
It is ridiculous how expensive the prevacid is! Isn't there some lobbyist for kids out there to help us get it covered. It is really unbelievable.
