Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
I guess count us in too....
I was in tears yesterday and today from Keira's non stop whining. I can't figure her out. She's sleeping well. She is starting to eat more but still has her moments. But like yesterday-I had to go get my eyebrows waxed because if I didn't there would be a new rainforest. ;) She was in her stroller and had a fit during the whole time. She had a fit at home if I put her down for ANY reason. And today I had a doctor appointment and she just threw a fit in the waiting room as well as while I was getting xrays (she was in her stroller). Then I went to the store because we needed more milk and she threw a fit there. Yet I take her home and she's all fine and dandy....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... Now if I'm playing with her she's ok but if I'm doing anything else-she has a fit. How could just turning one a week and a half ago cause this much of an issue? My dh doesn't blame the milk especially since the doctor said if she took regular formula then it's no different than milk allergy/intolerance wise. I don't know what to think. It's confusing because it's like if she were in pain I would think playing with her wouldn't make her happy instantly? UGH.... I don't mean to complain so much it's just that sometimes you feel like there's no way you can take care of yourself because your child won't allow it. And you want to be able to communicate with your child but right now that's pretty tough to do.

and the thing is- when she had ear infections she would get hysterical. I mean there was no end and you just knew she was in pain. This is more of a whining and it escalates if you don't change her circumstances immediatley.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
We're hitting this as well...note on the milk - regular milk has full proteins and formula's proteins are usually broken down. I don't think tha's the issue though, from what it sounds like. Could just be a mommy-cling day (I can't STAND those!) Like I want to hold her while I go to the bathroom!

I would go ahead and see if you can get a look in th ears, just to be safe. Other than that, I've been doing bait and switch to get her attention off me for 2 mintues. HUGS!

yeah when she was born and on some formula she would just arch her back and scream and cry pretty soon after eating and with this - it's just whenever the "mood" hits her. It's hard sometimes because people without kids get annoyed when your kid is nosy in public but you as a mom cannot always help it and trust me-it bothers US more than those bothered by the noise!! :P

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I don't think it'll make you feel any better, but Maggie is the same way. She got somewhat better about 2 or so months ago. I do believe it's age and behavior for the most part. Maggie didn't start entertaining herself at all until she started daycare. I don't know if it was coincidence or not.

Good luck to you...I totally know what you're going through. Maggie has just started "allowing" us to take her places :)

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!

Katie can't stand me to be in the other room for more than a minute either. I have just resigned myself to the fact that I have to be in the same room with her while she is up and playing. I get my phone calls in, fold laundry, dust not by her etc. and when she is napping I do stuff in other rooms.

Can she have soy? Whole milk can be pretty hard to digest and if she is on prevacid it might make it that much more difficult since she has decreased stomach acid. Just a thought.

the joys of motherhood everyone failed to tell you about. sigh** i spent 45 minutes listening to coy scream this afternoon because i would not hold him. i would have liked to but its kinda difficult to chop carrots, celery, and onion with a baby on your hip who keeps reaching for the knife! the second i picked him up it stopped. i feel your pain!
