med wean ?
I got on again... maybe something is working...

Nolan just spit up. He hasn't done it in months almost since we put him on prevacid and the last med wean. It has only been one day. Should I be concerned? It smelled like acid. Should I stop the wean or give it more time? I cut back his evening dose and gave him a 1/2 solutab this morning. I decided to got back a 1/2 instead of a 1/4 because I thought could I really tell with a 1/4. Should I go back to doing it by the quarter or just take the vomit into consideration and stop?

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
personally I would stop the wean. I only say this because we are dealing with a lot of damage done to Katie's stomach and esophogus. I was so proud to have her off meds....not so proud now.

just my very very very humble opinion.

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Has he been uncomfortable or having trouble sleeping? Maybe give it another day or two and see how it goes. We tried at one year unsuccessfully, but had good luck at 14 months. I'm not really sure from your post - is he completely off or did you cut back a half?

Hi Amber - I probably should not have posted to this topic. I am feeling really depressed tright now that I let her reflux go so long that it caused damage to her. You should listen to more rational mom's who did weans most likely more responsibly than I did. Juli

Sorry I was unable to get on at all yesterday. Stupid internet problems. I value everyones opinion. I skipped his evening dose again. I will have to see what today brings. Thanks

Juli~ I value your opinion and thank you for the warning. If there is any sign of pain I'm going to stop. I'm sorry your med wean didn't go well and Katie is hurting. The hardest thing about reflux is the trial and error. I was there was a clear sign saying it is time to get off of meds.
