Sodium Cromoglycate
Hi ladies, Jazz was recently put on a new med for her Eosin. colitis, called Sodium cromoglycate. I have read whay I could find on it and spoken to my pharamcists. I still don't have much info on this med and was wondering if anyone elses Lo is taking this.......It's suppose to stabalize the Mast cells in the intestine and help to reduce the Eos. in her Lg. intestine, therefore reducing the inflammation. can anyone give me any firsthand experience with this?

Thanks, Brenda :-)

I used it as an inhaler as a teen for excercise induced asthma and didn't have any problems with it but have not used the oral form. My kids have not used it either. I hope somone on here can give you some good info. I will try to do some digging for you as well. I certianly hope it will help Jazz!

My son is also on Cromolyn sodium (Intal) inhaler for his asthma. It is a med w/ *very* few side effects, and my son does great on it. He cannot tolerate ANY steroids (even inhaled, low dose). I know you are not looking for asthma info, but just wanted to say that my son is on this med as well, different form, but same med! :)

I used to take this for asthma, I took a lot of other meds at the same time, so I really cant say what side effects it caused. I read mixed things about this as a treatment for EGID, some say it just masks the symptoms like a bandaid, some say it helps sometimes but others not at all...

i know this sounds like a broken record but that was also in my inhaler for asthma. I remember reading something somewhere about Mast cells relevant to colitis.... Maybe on this board??? If i remember and find it i will send it along.
