Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.

Oh wow ...this has been quite the weekend w/ Keira. DH had to work yesterday so I got an extra whole day w/ her. She's been in SUCH a lovely mood. Tonight she still refused to eat her dinner. I'm calling the pedi tomorrow as she just will not eat solids and I don't know what else to do. She only wants the junk stuff. It's my fault for even giving her those but in the past she only got them as a snack as she'd eat her fruits and veggies w/out any issues. She'll cry or whine and then not but 5 secs later lean forward and look at me and smile. GRRRRR Are we having power plays or something? I thought the terrible twos were at TWO not ONE! AHHHHH Calgon take me away! Ok I'm done venting now. HUGS TO YOU! I'll see ya "in the bin".

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
Seriously. I understand. 2 weeks before coy's 1st birthday I took him to the pedi for this exact reason. I was FREAKING going crazy because he wouldn't eat a thing and only wanted bottles. he too was loving the wafers, crackers, etc. etc. but wouldnt touch fruits & veggies and didnt eat much protein type foods either. I was convinced that he hadn't gained any weight and that he was dying.. So, he gained 2 pounds!

then i proceded to tell the doc about how he will only eat carbs when he does eat. i called him a carb loader. his respondse was so, aren't you?? he then went on to tell me that some kids at this age are very discriminate now about tastes-especially bitter veggie tastes. And, that eating slows wayyy down. Also, if we force them to eat then it makes it so much worse because it is a power struggle that you as a parent will never, ever win!

Not 3 days later he ate everything in site. seriously. then he didnt eat for a few days. now, we are back to not eating good...

i would go in for a weight check just for piece of mind. but, relax and i bet she will start eating again in a bit. now, coyle loves to eat from spoons and forks when just weeks ago he HATED it!! change up the colors, shapes, textures etc. feed her in her stroller. let her snack in the living room if you are fine with it. oh, and we do "so big" and "yay" when he eats. he REALLY likes that! anything to make mealtime fun and not stressful.

thinking of you often.

Well the no constipation days were short lived. Today it was so bad she was in tears. I got out the Miralax and then she went and she's happy now. She even ate a whole jar of PEARS WITHOUT FIGHTING ME!!! I let her have her favorite graham crackers first and then I just sorta slid in the whole pears thing and she was cool about it. I just acted like it was no biggie and she didn't ee it as a power play and seemed fine to eat. SHEESH!!! :P How's Coy today? We should have like a weekly thread for this! haha. Tonight we are having fajitas so I figure she might just like the soft tortillas and chicken w/ some cheese. I can hope, right? ;)

You know, Coy won't eat well either until he poops. I think the pressure of the poop makes their tummy aggravated since they have reflux and all.

I'm so glad she ate the pears!

he was up from 120 until 330 in the morning. had horrible gas and even pooped. he has never, ever done that. i'm not sure what he ate that caused that! he was terribly crabby this morning but i'm sure because he was overtired. i ended up having to put him down for a nap earlier than i thought.. he was up @ 7 and back down by 9 (cried in his crib for 20 minutes! UGH) and is still asleep. he did eat good bfast tho-french toast and some pears..

i agree. since our kiddos are the same age it will be nice to talk to someone with the same issues :)

I think they're texting one another or something! They sound so similar! LOL Yeah this is the first time I've seen her get visibly upset when constipated. Thank goodness she went. Maybe that's why she was so fussy yesterday.

I heard back from the pedi. He says she's healthy and not at all out of range with her weight so even if she goes on a strike with solids it won't hurt her if it takes even a week. He's cool with me giving her a multivitamin w/ iron which makes me happy. And he says I need to keep my worrying in check as she can pick up on that and then we begin a power play. He's suprised she is refusing foods because formula is so filling and milk isn't. But he says it would take months of this to become truly anemic or anything and she is taking in SOME foods just not as much as she use to.

Aww thanks! I'm Irish and (well you know my real name-haha) so I wanted an Irish or Gaelic name for our baby so we agreed on this one. I really wanted to name her McKenna but dh didn't like that. I like the name Keira though as it's not as common as my name and it fits her well. She ate some cereal tonight-not much but enough. I think she's SLOWLY getting back on track. Now that I know she'll not starve and that she's got plenty of "reserves" it helps me relax. Knowledge is power I guess. :)
