TMI-problem after heavy feed
Meggy ate only about 573 calories yesterday. Most of it however consisted of heavy beans: Red lentils, yellow lentils, red beans, banana, oatmeal.

From about 2AM-6AM she screamed and screamed flipping around like she was in pain. You could also hear sounds like she was wretching to vomit but couldn't. She would fall asleep just a few minutes at a time, during that time food would ooze out of her mouth-not sure this is considered vomiting.

Later from about 7-11AM she had 5 BM's. The food looked just as it had gone in, not digested.

Has anyone experienced this? Does it mean she just ate more than her body could handle?

She has had projectile vomiting before, but not this.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I wonder if it's just all the beans. Is she used to that? She could have had gas and I think I remember somebody saying that the skins on the beans don't digest well. Just thoughts...

Mom to Jasmine aka: Jazz 01/24/2007
Dx with silent reflux at 8 months
FPIES, DGE, MSPI. Recently diagnosed with EC (Eosin. colitis and now Primary immune deficiency disease.
Also mom to Nathan. born Jan.20th, 2009, MPI . so far dx with reflux and has an extremely sensitibe GI system. Also dx with primary immune deficiency disease.
Sorry to hear that, poor baby. Jasmine actually went through this same kinda thing (no oozing food, but retching), she scream and had 5-6 BM's - The beans came out of her undigested as well. Her Ped told me to take the casing/shell/cover off the beans and try a small amount. Now I know that because Jazzy has Eosino. Gastritis, exactly what Meggy has I think? They have an incredibly difficult time digesting any protein. HTH

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I would imagine she is feeling pretty blaoted and gassy. Those are all very heavy foods - the bananas can stop her up, as can the oatmeal...AND all those beans. It's quite a bit of fiber to take in at once, you know? Her system was probably feeling pretty overloaded with it. I bet she will be fine in a day. So sorry! But look at all the foods she ate with no allergic reaction!! Hooray!!

Thank you. You are right that is a lot of fiber to take in. She did drink over 20 ounces of fluid though. For some reason she just seemed excessively hungry yesterday and that is all she wanted to eat. She was crying and pounding on the fridge. It was really odd for her.

Today she hasn't eaten anything yet, so I think her system is trying to recover.

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
Lentils are legumes which are beans.......lots of gas building foods.

i have given emily black beans a couple times and they always come out undigested. they make her tummy upset for a couple days. I always have to watch what i given emily in a day (some days i am not very good at it) but i really need to be vigil of balancing out her sugars, fibers and starches otherwise it is a upset stomach catastrophe. I hope she is eating better today :)
