Picture: This is what happens when you raise a kid on health food and they get ahold of a Coke! Bad mom, that soda is NOT on the reflux diet.
UPDATE: Isaiah is now 12 and off meds! He is doing great, eating again and hopefully will be catching up in the growing department. I am still in the "hoping it sticks" phase, but we're so happy that he's better!
Gluten, dairy and soy free high calorie foods?
Anyone have some ideas on foods that are high in calories and good fats but won't cause reflux flare ups and are soy, dairy and gluten free? Isaiah is just so darn skinny...he put some weight on and then immediately grew nearly an inch...but now he's had some flare ups and isn't eating well again and looks skinny again. Sigh. I'm looking for some ideas on what to feed him to fatten him up! I can't put heavy whipping cream into his food since he can't have dairy. He also balks at foods that are really high in saturated fat...because they always make him reflux. He does love healthy foods like fruits and vegetables but darn, he's just too skinny!

Ultracare-Medical food
Probably want to check with pedi or GI, and it has a warning for vitamin A I think. Not sure if you have to have a script or not. We are trying to arrange an order for Meggy now.

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
Salmom and avocado. You probably don't live in CA do you? Avocado might be unavailable to you......but it has a lot of good fat and is supposed to be GREAT for refluxers. Sadly Katie reacts to it. :(

Molly 7/10/07 the reason I'm here!
coconut milk smoothies. it is high in fat, but it is supposed to be really easy to digest, and a natural remedy for acid reflux. I made one for Molly with frozen fruit and she loved it.

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Avacado came to my mind as well or maybe stuff with bacon in it? Here's a page with high calorie foods...it's for reference so people can avoid them, but in his case, they may be some good options:

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Do you have access to a Whole Foods market? They have the ability to print out a list of foods at their store that would meet your dietary needs. THey also have classes on living gluten free etc. Just a thought.......
