ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

I read in your update that Joslyn was having sleeping troubles. :( We have been working on Ethan's sleep, or we were until this reflux kicked up againg. In my sleep book it said that the next stage our little ones would go through would be seperation anxiety. They said it was 6-9 months, so it'd be a little early, but I thought maybe it was an option. My book suggests trying a "transitional object" like a small bear or something. They said to have the baby hold it while nursing or spending cuddle time with you, and then they'd start to assocaite the bear with you, and it would help.

I wasn't sure if you were anready trying something like that with Joslyn, but I remembered it when I read your update today. Hopefully she'll start to get some better sleep soon, so that you can too.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
Meridith.. thanks so much! Joslyn seems to be going through separation Anziety for the past month or so. She only wants me! Lord have mercy if I leave a room without her. This is now going to her sleeping. She will sleep just fine on me but once I put her down she wakes up and screams. This is fairly new as she never had this problem. And she will not stop screaming.... mos kids will stop after a while... not Josyln! She loves to hold something when she falls asleep so I let her hold her birb bibby or a small velvet blanket she has. But I am glad that your book says that is a good idea! Makes me feel like I am doing something right! Thanks so much for the help!!!!!!!!!
