Sharon, Mom to Elyse, 17 mos (15 mos adjusted-preemie). Zantac/Elecare. History of: Respiratory Distress Syndrome with ventilation/CPAP/cannula, tpn, n/g tube, PDA, jaundice, apnea, bradycardia/tachycardia, severe anemia, blood transfusion, reflux, Sandifer's Syndrome, intestinal malrotation, hemangiomas, MSPI, feeding issues. ICU inpatient 53 days! 2 surgeries, 2 UGIs, barium enema, pH probe, endoscopy. Developmentally on target now! PIC: Yobaby Beard
I just had to post to say that Elyse just ate almost an entire half of a sandwich for dinner! It was one whole piece of bread, a little cheese, and a thin piece of turkey lunchmeat (I hid it in there, lol) and some brummell and brown (a butter substitute made with yogurt....we rarely have butter in the house but I need to get some for her). I grilled it with the george foreman and cut it into teeny pieces. granted, it was a very small sandwich, but she has never eaten that much! Usually it is a couple bites and she is done.

You could say she is pretty much completely weaned from formula/bottles. We still try twice a day and she will occassionally drink an ounce to 3 ounces, and only now if it is 20 cal. She fought me too hard on the 24 and 30 cal. We still have no replacement drink as she will only drink water and juice, so we offer it all day long and make sure she gets at least some cheese.

it's so weird, when E started on babyfood she loved eating! We have always had breastmilk/formula issues, but I really thought the food thing was going to be easy. Oh, she also ate some carrots today and she has not been wanting any veggies at all except corn for a couple weeks. :)

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
That's great news. Hey, who cares how big the sandwich totally counts ;) I was wondering the same as Kat...can she have pediasure or something?

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
YAY! great news. Well, the good thing about no bottles is not having to clean them anymore. but, seriously i think as long as she gets some form of dairy and other sources of fat/protein she'll be fine. she is growing so well. I love brummel and brown but have not bought it in a while because i use the full fat REAL butter for Coy. I should buy some so i don't put on more weight !

how do you serve corn? i'm afraid of the choking issue.

Connor 11/22/02
Grace 7/2/04 reflux free now!
Molly 7/10/07 the reason I'm here!
That's great! Have you tried to make smoothies yet? Molly has also stopped drinking her formula bottles, but she can't do whole milk or soy milk (they both hurt her stomach and make reflux horrible). Thankfully she seems to really like the vanilla rice milk so she gets calcium, but I am worried about fat. So today I made her a smoothie using full fat coconut milk and frozen fruit. I put it in a straw cup and she LOVED it. And coconut milk is full of fat, and supposed to be easy to digest and good for the stomach. Unfortunately, coconut milk doesn't have calcium, but it would be good for fat and calories. And maybe if you add some kind of milk or ice cream you could add calcium, too.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Yay for Elyse!! That's great about the sandwich. Sucks about the bottle/formula, bu at least she is showing some interest in chowing down. I think what really caught my eye is that you rarely keep butter in the house. HOW DO YOU SURVIVE?
Check with your
doctor first!
