Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Took both boys to the Ped...VERY interesting...
So, Adam had his 5yr today and Nate had his 18 month. I asked about the warts on Adam's feet. She looked and said "wow, they really like you" (Adam thought it was so funny. Her remedy is this...wrap DUCT TAPE over it and leave it on till it gets nasty or till I just can't stand it anymore. This makes them white and "soft". It will bring the wart to the surface and then it will dry out. She does not recommend and OTC meds or freezing them at this age. I am cool with that :)

Now, on to my Nathan. I found out why he decided to cry for 2 hours last night. His right ear had BARELY cleared up and it moved to the LEFT EAR!! She said they both looked horrible. Now, how in the heck does that happen when the boy has been on omnicef 4ml twice a day for 10 freakin days?? She is giving him 3 days worth of Zithromax. Please pray it clears up. We see the ENT in a few weeks and they are going to talk about tubes...we already know he is getting them but we need this to clear up so the poor guy can get some rest (and mommy too, lol)

He is a whopping 29lbs and 34 inches loooooong!! The ped is so impressed with his weight and height. He looks so much older than he really is, lol. Thanks for reading this far, I am off to take a nap ;)

Oh and BTW-the red bumps in the back of Adam's throat are NOT blisters or HFM...it is just nasal drip irritation...THANK GOD!!

Did you see my response below? I said I heard duct tape did it. HMMM, now I may actually have to try it.

I'm curious what Nolan will weigh at his 12 month check next month. By the way Nate looks in his picks Nolan isn't going to be far behind him. We've got the football players here. I hope his ears clear up in no time.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Whew, I'm glad about the bumps! That Nate is TALL! He'd step on Mags, lol. I'm sorry about his ears! Can you get a sooner ent appt. and go ahead and do it? You know when they make the incision, they drain them, so wouldn't that be good? I don't know.

Thanks for the compliments Sarah. Melissa-I am just gonna keep the appt we have for the ENT. Remember, I am hoping and praying that dh's new insurance kicks in so we don't have to pay 100% out of pocket, lol. Amber-OMG...I must have skipped over your comment. I just went back and read it. I thought you only responded 1 time. That is too funny about you mentioning that. She sure seems to think the tape will take care of it. I will let you know!! Dh is gonna LOL when he hears what we have to do :)

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
Sorry to hear about the ears. We went through that with Morgan. She has had four sets of tubes in five years. She had problems before her first ones and these last ones with getting rid of the infection, she is allergic to Augmentin also. So, they had to do rocephin shots. I hope they don't have to do that to Nate. If for some reason the tubes get clogged and don't drain properly ask the ENT about peroxide. That is how we finally got all the stuff drained. Hers were so backed up they clogged several times. We put peroxide in them twice a day and they finally cleared up.

The duct tape works! My niece had a wort on her knee and the derm told her the same thing. They bought purple duct tape, it comes in all kinds of colors now, and she wore it for a while. It got rid of them. It is weird, huh!

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
I read that if you pick at a wart and irritate it the body sends a response and fights the infection. It worked for me but I really had to irritate it daily until it went away. Glad the blisters are only irritation!

29lbs??? Holy cow Danie!!!! 34 inches??? That's amazing. I feel sorry for you having to carry him, LMAO. That is the ONE advantage of having a *miniature* toddler, hehehe. Well, they're totally adorable. Hope the duct tape helps with the warts.....have you given any thought to how you're going to get the tape off? I mean, a band-aid is one thing.......lol

Michelle-girl, you didn't scare me with the HFM, lol. I was scared when his school sent home the slip saying it was in his class. Then I saw the red bumps in his throat. I tell ya, I LOVE holding my niece. She is 25lbs and she feels so light. Isn't it crazy how just a few lbs feels so different?

Danie-I am sorry Nate isn't feeling well. I have been meaning to write to you since I got home today but Aidan has been clinging to me all day. I just wanted to say have they tried the drops in his ears in addition to the antis. I hope Nate settles down for you so you both can get some rest. His reflux might be flaring bad since he is using back to back antibiotics. That might be why he is having such a hard time sleeping. I hope the tubes are a big help for you guys. Have you heard about DH's insurance yet?

My LO at 24 months was 34.25 inches. I think that's it. I'll have to look at my signature. So your 18 month old is almost as tall as my 24 month old. Funny! Maybe you should sign him up for basket ball for 2 year olds! NBA here comes Nate!
