Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
Bad night...worse day?!
So, we are on ham only. No additives, preservatives or hormones. She is now getting splotchy skin again, excema returning. Last night someone handed her an M & M at my school. Thank goodness she was a good girl and brought it to me. Last night she was breathing akwardly and I went in there and she couldn't conrol her head and upper body from shaking. Which leads me to believe that she had another seizure! UGH! She was up off and on all night. Crying, gassy, stomach contracting or convulsing. It was terrible. Then this morning she had diarrhea all the way up her back. It stunk so bad. It makes me think it is the ham. On the other hand, Brady, the little 13 month old at the babysitter, had diarhea and they thought it was just teeth. Well, he woke up yesterday at naptime with a 102.7 fever. So, how do I know if it is viral or the food? I am so frustrated. -Amanda

8 lbs 11 oz at birth.

Prevacid Free since September 08
Egg allergy diagnosed Jan 26/09
Has a Pectus Excavatum
Has an Epipen
Poor little thing :( How long has she been on ham? I don't know anything about food allergies....can there be a delayed response? I'm leaning toward viral, because it's that time of the year, I guess. Does she have a fever? Could it have been some lethargy, virus can cause this, instead of a seizure. Boy I sure hope it wasn't a seizure. Are you thinking about having her seen? Maybe cut out the ham and watch her like a hawk for the next day or so? Having kids is NOT an easy job is it? UGH. Praying she feels better soon. I was up all night too....I feel your pain on that front. HUGS

She has epilepsy but she has been seizure free for months. That is what scares me. Could it be the diet that is causing the seizures or is it viral. I hate not knowing what is going on. This morning she was pretty happy though. Which leads me to believe that it is the food.

I think my post was confusing. Adriane doesn't have a fever. It is her little friend at the babysitter. They thought his was teeth but now it is hanging on. So, I heard from the allergist. Of course, her ped. is off until Oct. Anyway, she wants us to go get a blood test to see if she has a viral infection. If not, then we have to take her off all foods until next friday when we do the soy challenge. That should be fun. This is exactly what I was afraid would happen. Now we are back to no food. I don't know how we will keep everyone straight. I guess when in doubt, don't feed the kid! -Amanda

Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
why did you try ham first? just curious? could you try a different more easily digestible protein like free range organic chicken or turkey? or is she allergic to those? from reading this forum and from my own experience ham seems like a hard thing for our kids to handle. Emily can tolerate only the farm field ham from walmart, sugar free and no additive or preservatives or hormones. i hope she feels better soon and you can figure out what is going on.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
I am no help either... but poor darlin!!!!!
