MSPI questions
Do most babies outgrow MSPI by about a year old? Donnie is almost 3 years old now and his MSPI is worse than it ever was. Milk and soy are the only 2 things he cannot tolerate. One tiny sip of milk and his poor tummy is torn apart. He had a horrible night last night. He cried for 2 hours and was writhing in pain. I am really lost as to where to go from here. Any suggestions on how to deal with MSPI in an older child? Thanks, Liz

90% of kiddos outgrow by age 1. Have you had allergy testing to rule out an allergy, as opposed to MSPI? For what it is worth, my 4.5 year old is still "MSPI". I still hope she'll outgrow, but it may or may not happen. Have you had allergy testing? Have you looked at any resources for MSPI (like the MSPI guidebook, or info at kidswithfoodallergies.org)?

Ooops wanted to add that between 98-99% of kids with MSPI outgrow by age 5. (Per our allergist and Ped GI). Very good stats, but not 100%.

PICTURE: Aubrey in her cute cat outfit. If you look you can see how her right foot turns in. She walks that way as well. It is not as exaggerated in the morning's but gets worse in the evenings. This was after her nap.

Most do outgrow it by 1. Aubrey can finally tolerate soy but dairy is still a no go.

2 healthy daughters (knock wood) Cory (16), Kim (11) & Eric (4) diagnosed with e.e. (scoped 8/08), GERD & severe food/seasonal allergies, asthma. Cried non-stop first 17 mths. of life Found out he is allergic to cow's milk, soy, eggs, and peanuts. Takes Prevacid, Neocate One Plus & Flovent.
If you haven't already, it would really benefit Donny to have allergy testing. Scratch testing is quick, easy, & you will have immediate answers. If he has a dairy or soy allergy, it must be completely removed from the diet for a period of time. Due to his other allergies/history, it wouldn't be out of the question for him to have food allergies. All the best & keep us posted. Love the pic. Ellen
