I thought I'd start a new post so you'd see this. I don't think a reflux flare up would cause a fever. Based on what you put on Rory's update post I'd think that was a virus. It sounds like maybe he has some post nasel drip that could cause his reflux to flare and vomit. That is probably why it tastes like boogers~ish. The reflux can flare because of a virus but I have never heard of reflux causing a fever. Could he possible have an upper respitory infection or a cold? As always I am not a doctor so these are things you should check with them. I am only sharing my experience. Either way I hope he feels better soon. Amber F

Also wanted to say I'm sorry your little guy isn't feeling well. I agree with Amber, it's probably the virus causing his reflux to flare. The other issue is that if he has a sore throat, any acid coming up would hurt it even more, so continue with the prevacid. Rory has actually been OFF prevacid for 3 weeks and was doing okay until this virus hit her. Her pediatrician said to get her back on the prevacid asap, as this may have caused a flare. HTH :) and welcome, btw!!

The post nasal drip does make sense, he gets lots of sinus infections. His right eye has started tearing up and he says it hurts so I think it is going to be sinus related. Does it matter that the prevacid is on a 100% empty stomach? He can't keep anything down. I am going to try and get him in with his pedi tomorrow, hopefully by then the vomitting stops.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, I am glad I found you! I am happy to know that there is someone who can relate. It is so hard to explain to people that his coughs are not sick "germy" coughs but reflux. :(

The prevacid should be given on an empty stomach. I give it 2 hours after eating and then wait a half hour before feeding him. So you are doing it right. Glad you found us too! Everyone has such unique backgrouds, jobs, and historys so it is nice to have so many knowledgable people to lean on.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
I'm sorry your boy's not feeling to hot. I agree with everyone here for the fever ebing caused by something other than reflux. The only thing I can add is if he's on other meds, make sure there's at least 2 hours between the prevacid and the other meds, even something like mylanta. My doc and pharmacist told me that other meds may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid - and that the prevacid does need to be given on an empty stomach. We do what amber f does as well.
Check with your
doctor first!
