Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Or if you'd just like a useless sausage-like dog, feel free to take mine. But you'd be screwed if something happened. She'd probably just lay on top of you and eat your lunch.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
too bad our westie Mackinac cant do that. He would just wait for someone to come to the door and bark at them! hehe But he is the best cuddle partner!!!!

That is Amazing.
We have a lab and dashund mix and while she has never called 911, she has saved our lives a number of times.

Whenever Megan stops breathing, during the day Abby sits beside her 5 minutes prior to the not breathing episode and cries.
At night she will go lay under Megan's bed again about 5 minutes before Megan stops breathing and cry so loud and pitiful like a baby.

We had a house fire when we first moved here during the middle of the night. Abby barked and at the time we were crate training her. She was screaming a high pitched scream and starting charging her crate making it roll in circles. I didn't know her so well at the time and thought she just needed to go to the bathroom. I opened our back door and tried to let her out. She grabbed the leg of my pajama pants and started trying to drag me outside. I finally walked outside to see smoke pouring from my basement walls. The fire had literally just started. We were able to put it out. Our property only suffered a couple $100 in damage and no one was hurt.

In July 2006 We had another dog. A golden retriever and Abby. Both had been sick with parasites and we had given them meds. Abby seemed Better but the Golden shaggy was still not acting himself. Abby got up from her bed, walked over to me and started tugging my pants leg trying to get me away from Shaggy. I didn't understand and waited to late. Shaggy charged toward my abdomen. I guarded it with my arm. He bit down hard and wouldn't let go. I was trying to pull him off with the other arm which he then attached to. During this whole thing our lab/dashund mix Abby was hanging from the Golden's hair trying to get him off me and being slung around the whole time. He was the second Golden retriever in our city to attack it's owner that week. The vet said there was a disease in the ground that only affected that breed. My doctor said because I was pregnant and something was wrong with the twins the dog didn't want them to live. I miscarried a week later. He sensed my hormone change and wanted to end the pregnancy out of jealousy. I don't know what really went wrong that day but the test showed he still had parasites. Maybe they affected him in a way that something in his brain snapped.
Sorry got off subject. When we came home from the hospital the animal control had taken the dog fearing rabies. Abby was sitting in the middle of my blood crying a fearsome cry like someone who had lost everything they had. She greeted me with the most joy I have ever seen a dog have in their life.

Check with your
doctor first!
