question about *not pooping* -OT
Hey Ladies, Rory hasn't pooped since Friday. This is the longest she's ever went. Do you think it has to do with her having a virus. I mean, she's not dehydrated, but hasn't had much in the way of formula or food. Could this be why? I'll mention it to the ped this afternoon. Just curious, really. :)

Her fever was 104 last night and we didn't sleep...AGAIN, but she woke this morning with no fever, so I figured we were out of the woods. Well, she just spiked one again...She can't go to daycare until her fever breaks...OH, GET THIS....today was supposed to be her first transition day and my chance to meet the new director and get everything sorted out...well, I just called to let her know we have to bump it to later in the week.....SHE'S OUT SICK!!!! I would have been soooo pissed if I had shown up there this morning with no director on our first day. UGH UGH UGH. Anyway, I'll keep y'all posted and try to catch up soon, I promise. Hope everyone is feeling well today. HUGS

one more question...does HFMD cause horrendous bad breath? I'm just curious if that is the cause or if it's acid breath, since she's off the prevacid?

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Glad you are taking her in today. I wonder if she may have strep throat since she isn't eating and spiking a fever. I would guess no poops would be related to the no eating. Hope you get some antibiotics today to clear up whatever she has.

When elyse gets sick, it is typically a 10-day eating/drinking strike with vomiting what she does eat. Included in this circus are 2-3 days of no poops, which we attribute to the not eating. Hope she gets better REALLY soon, and I would have been MAD about showing up to no director too, esp if you had a meeting scheduled and no one bothered to cancel for her.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I can't believe no one told you! People can be so crappy.

So I would agree witht he moms and think that no food mean no poop. It hasn't been THAT long (although I am sure it feels like it), so it is probably OK. Hope she goes today for you. Go d- can you imagine what our poor kids would do if they saw these boards about poop when they are teenagers? They will HATE us (of course, when they are teenagers, they will probably hate us anyway...)!

Yeah, I would think consuming less food would equal less poops. Also if she hasn't been as active because she's not been feeling well that would contribute too. Hope she's doing better soon. Thinking of you.

Rory still hasn't pooped. I know everyone suggested that it is because she isn't eating food, but she really only started eating food the past few months, and she always pooped daily on just formula. BUT my sil found an answer that is intriguing....it's the tylenol!! I remember my mother had horrible abdominal pain from constipation and her doctor had prescribed her tylenol 3 and M.O.M....the pharmacist had been taken aback by the fact he had prescribed a narcotic for constipation....because it CAUSES constipation. I hadn't even thought of that as a reason, but it totally makes sense. At what point does NO POOP become a concern?
