Julian has a fever...should I still give meds?
Hey ladies,
It's Gaby, Julians mom recently joined. I just want to say thank for all the responses to my previous post, I have not been on in a few days and have been unable to reply, but I do thank you.
In addition I just want to add that we have had some good days and now we are on some bad days. I have come to understand from the posts I have read that there is a lot of yo-yoing with the good and bad and we have had our share of them.
Yesterday during the day he started "barking" as we call it, he was still able to eat quite well then at night he continued to cough, I was up till 4 with him I gave him some maalox and it seemed to help he was able to go back to sleep.
Just as I was going into my deep sleep my alarm goes off, I hit the snooze and within 5 minutes Julian is on my bedside crying, his tummy hurts really bad and is feeling nausous(sp) he also has a fever of 99.9 he just felt warm to me, for someone who falls asleep in his undies and shirt. So I took his temp. I figured I nip the fever in the but so it does not get the best of him troughout the day, I figured maybe this way I will be able to get fluids in him. I gave him some Tylenol.
My question is should I still keep up with his Prevacid? or should we just work on keeping the fever and pain under control. This is the 1st time he gets a fever with his reflux acting up.
I also want to add how much I admire you guys, the strength you all have. I wish you all the best of luck for you and your little ones, You will always be in my prayers. I hope that your children will be able to out grow this soon. Lately I have just been feeling so helpless. I wish I can take this away from my son. It breaks my heart when he asks me how come only he gets sick and his sister never does.
He is other wise very healthy with the exception on the reflux and the swollen lypmh nodes in his neck which the doctors seem to think that it is all related to his allergies and constant sinus infections.
Sorry, I guess I had some venting to do. Hope you all have a good day today! It is early and I have to get my daughter ready for school.

We are happy you have found us to. I too have felt some of the feelings you are describing. I always wish I could take his pain away and suffer it myself in order for him to be pain free. I would give his prevacid. I give it to my son no matter what. (((HUGS))) Amber

Well, I decided not to send my daughter to school.

Julian has not had a break, he is bowing before the porcelain king, I don't know where all this stuff is coming from. We had dinner round 7 yesterday and I swear I just seen it.

My daughter was not happy about missing school, she is worried it will affect her activities choir and stundent council. Too many absences and she is kicked out, so she is mad at me because she says what will happen if she gets sick she is not going to have any more excusable days.

I wish my dh did not start work so early or work so far so he could have taken her. Oh, bother! I feel so guilty..At what age can you let your kids walk to school alone? I live around the corner from the school she will not have to cross any streets or anything like that, I am scared though. She asked if she could just walk there. I think she is too young, she is in the 3rd grade and she 8.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Hey...sorry you're having a rough day. I wanted to chime in. My dd is 9. I think if you can see her the whole way, it's ok. Is it beside a busy street? How many houses will she pass? Are they seemingly ok people? Those are questions I'd ask myself. I walked my dd to school a few times last year and it scared me when she ran ahead of me because we were beside a busy street. I was afraid she'd trip out into traffic or something. Yep, I'm overprotective. Any way, that's my 2cents on that part. I hope the throwing up ends. Oh and let me say that my dd would have a party if I let her stay out of school :) Must be nice to have such a responsible little lady. I wish my dd was that way just one day a week ;)
Check with your
doctor first!
