Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
ughhhhh-Physical Therapy Update
Well we just had Keira's pt at home today for the very first time. LOVE the therapist. He's really nice and patient w/ Keira and just has a much more relaxed attitude w/ it all. Only thing though is that now he's saying that her feet tend to sorta drop forward if that makes sense. He said that she is super tight in her feet and that she might need feet/leg braces or even casting done?!? Sometimes it's like "ok, what's next?!?" Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I'm sorry Sadie....just try to tell yourself "at least it's something that's treatable". I know that's easy for me to say, right? Hugs!

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
poor baby! But I do agree.... it is fixable! that is great news.... and who knows maybe it will correct itself!

Hi-I am a PT and, yes, definitely heard of such things. Quite common, actually. Usually, they will opt for removable braces. They are usually plastic with velcro straps. Try to get the ones custom molded to her feet vs. off-the-shelf.Most are designed to help keep proper position of the feet and assist stretching the tight tissue. Hope all goes well.

8 lbs 11 oz at birth.
Recovered Chronic Projectile Vomiter
Prevacid Free since September 08

I'm so glad you have a therapist you like, and I'd be thinking that he must be good to be wanting to address everything that should be. Keira is still so young and getting her therapy now will do wonders for her in the future. Stay positive! HUGS.

seamus mama
Seamus was diagnosed with Silent Reflux at 3 weeks. Now he is 14 months, on Prilosec and avoiding dairy, soy, egg. Still nursing. A lot !!!
Sometimes they give braces for children to wear just at night so during the day they can live their lives..Hopefully it will just correct itself !

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
i'm glad he is a much better therapist than the other one. so good for her. and i'm not sure about the "dropping forward" but coyle is super tight in his ankles, knees, and hamstrings which may or may not go away with time. Our PT has also suggested a brace and a sleeping cast (which will never fly with my son who is a tummy sleeper) but we might have to do the braces. waiting for pedi to tell us yay/nay. then they can be GF/BF with braces on together!
Check with your
doctor first!
