I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
joslyn weight check
Well we just got back. I was able to get in for 10 am. The same time as her last well visit 2 weeks ago. We were able to weigh her and then feed her and weigh her again. (as this visit feel on her 10 am feeding time.) She was 11 lbs 15.5 ounces on an empty tummy. Last well visit she was 11 lbs 15 ounces on a full tummy. So right there she had gained some. After her feeding (10 mins by the way! Still not her "normal") she weighed 12 lbs 3 ounces. So she is fine! The nurse was shocked at how much she had gained in 10 mins. So it is good! She is fine. Just changing her need for more food. She was taking in 5 ounces per nursing session. But now about 3.5 ounces. But 3.5 ounces in 10 mins is pretty good I think. She still gets a 5 ounces bottle of BM in the AM. They are very happy still with her weight. Just a petite baby..... Funny note.... while we were leaving this one lady saw Joslyn and said "how cute is she? She is 3 months old right?" I just giggled and said "no she will be 5 months in 3 days." how funny!!!!! I said "but she is in 0-3 month clothing.. so you are kinda right!" we just laughed!**Jacky

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

Hurray for Joslyn!
I am so glad that she is just changing her needs, and her speed at nursing.

I remember those days. Q wore the same clothes for much longer than three months! She was in 12 month clothes for over a year and she will be three in January and she still wears some 12 month shorts. :) Now, Q looks her age but before, everybody thought she was so much younger.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Great news about the weight gain!!

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
I do have the say the nice thing about pumping breastmilk is I was always able to tell how many ounces Katie was getting. That is great that she is gaining! And you sound like a great little milk producer there mama!! :)

Great news! Elyse is 15 mos (13 adjusted) and some nine month bottoms still fit her :) I think Elyse looks like a normal size for her age, but I still get comments all the time in public about her being petite (she is tall and slender except for her beer belly lol)
