Not a good day-mil update
I guess it really is gonna be up and down y'all. I am soooooo tired. I just have to "talk to" someone. I try to be so strong for dh and his dad and sister. I show very little emotion.

My mil was very down today. She started having pains last night and it continued through the night into the morning. At the 9am visit, she told fil that she has given up and she can't fight any more. Well, I don't have to tell you how that went over.

At 11am she was somewhat better. She talked a little. Throughout the day it was up and down. We went in at 4pm to find her trying to take her oxygen mask off...crying "somebody help me" over and over. She can only whisper so the nurses had no idea. Thank God it was visiting time. She didn't have a nurse's button that she could get to. I made sure she had one before I left. UGH!

She is still using a bi-pap machine off and on throughtout the day. When she does ANYTHING her stats drop. If she gets upset, tries to eat orally, anything...her oxygen drops. WHAT IS CAUSING THIS? we have no idea and the drs don't either. They sent off the lung "stuff" yesterday. Maybe that will give some kind of answer. I just don't know what to think. I've taken her pics of the girls. I talk to her about them. I told her that I know she's a control freak (like me), but she's gonna have to let the rest of us handle it right now. I told her when she gets out of the cvru, she can have the control back.

I want to be positive...it's hard. Dh braces himself every time he goes back to see her. I'm staying home tomorrow. He's going up in the morning. His boss is being really awesome about his days off.

Please keep praying for her!

I am sure you are both emotionally and physically drained. Just know you are doing everything you can and the rest is up to her. I hope she continues to fight-for the girls sake if nothing else. You need to remember not to forget to take time for yourself!!! I'll be praying!

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I'm so sorry, Melissa. I'll keep praying for all of you. I hope tomorrow is a better day for all.

Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

Tracey, mom to Katie. Diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks and put on Zantac. At 8 months old she was removed from Zantac as it was giving her migraines, currently on Prevacid. Switched to Elecare since she is not gaining weight; trialing solids after being off for a month. Geneticist said reason she isn't gaining weight is she is stubborn. Upcoming appts.: Neurologist for developmental delay and EGD scheduled for September. She is one funny baby!
Hugs to you and prayers will continue!

So far today, dh said she's having a WONDERFUL day. He said she's eating stuff, joking around, sitting up and lots of stuff. It's so amazing one day to the next how different things are. I think she was just in the dumps yesterday.
Check with your
doctor first!
