assistance with formula and medical equipment
My insurance won't help me pay for Meggy's elemental formula. Money is already tight and we will be spending more than we have without assistance. We make just enough to be disqualified for almost everything, but not enough to pay for everything. I am looking for some resources to help pay for Meggy's Neocate EO28 splash. I have checked out:

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Meggy is sooooo cute....glad you got her picture up and running!!

We switched insurance in July, so now Sebastian's Neocate is covered. Before that, I just bought it in sealed cases on Ebay. I paid around $85 a case of four cans, which sucked but was a heck of a lot better than full price. I have a few trusted sellers I used several times if you choose to go this route!

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site:
I'll pray that you get it covered.

Jedd was 100% tube fed via NG and G and he SHOULD have been covered. And wasn't. I had letters form all of his Dr. Still a no go.

Basically we ran the credit card up on e-bay buying coupons and formula. Also talk to the pedi. Ours gave us litterally at least 1,000 in free formula. Jedd used Alimentum and NONE of the other kids in the practice used it. so it was all ours!!!!

They called when they ahd a shipment and DH went and got it after work. He worked right around the corner.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
I echo asking the MD (both ped and GE) for samples - they eventually expire and usually they're glad to get rid of it. Can't help much with the insurance - I'm fighting with them now over meds as well.

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
Have the ped or GI doc check with Apria. It is a company that works with your insurance. If they get the formula and ship it to you then they bill & the insurance looks at it much like medical equipment. It is Apria Healthcare and we have been dealing with them for over a year. Ever since A starting on Neocate. They have been great and they don't charge you a thing. We are like you where we don't qualify for anything but yet we can't afford to buy the expensive stuff. We would have figured it out eventually, I'm sure. Hope this helps! -Amanda
