Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
O/T Zyrtec
So Keira has a runny nose (clear), dark purple allergy shiners and itchy red eyes. She's been on 1/4 tsp of Zyrtec for a long time but I'm wondering how much your little ones take? She is 21 pounds. I'm waiting for the nurse to call me as she is miserable. I wish I knew what in particular is triggering all this.

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
poor baby! I hope you can find relief for her!

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Halley is 25.5 lbs and takes 1 tsp 1x per day. The pedi started her on 1/2 tsp when she was about Keira's size, but it did nothing. Once we got her up to 1 tsp, it finally seemed to make a difference. HTH.

Mary & Nicholas 7-17-03 (non-refluxer)allergies, asthma on Singulair and Flovent & Aidan 1-28-07(my refluxer)Nissen Fundoplication on June 20, 2008, FTT, MSPI, DGE, ear tubes, allergies and severe GERD now currently taking just Prevacid and drinking Elecare Vanilla 1+.
I think there is a pretty broad range limit for what can be given because my 24 pounder takes 3/4 tsp. You could also ask a pharmacist if your ped doesn't call back. We have pretty bad allergies at our house and the meds haven't been doing much for us this year except for my oldest who is taking Singulair he doesn't seem to be bothered too much.

Donnie started out on 1/2 tsp when he was about a year old and then his ped upped it to a teaspoon when he turned 2. Donnie is just getting over his first upper respiratory infection since this past winter too so I guess we are getting into the season for that. Hope she gets better! -Liz
