Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
Went to Pedi today
I couldn't wait 2 weeks until his well check. My kid is not eating well and is not sleeping!! Of course, my own lack of sleep prohibited me from remembering to mention the not sleeping to our doctor so i have no idea what is up with the sleep... but since others i know are having the same issues i suppose it is par for the course @ this age.

anyway, for the real news.....drumroll please........... Coy weighs 17 pounds!!! and is 28 inches long!!! He is in the 3rd percentile for weight and height for his actual not adjusted age!!!! I'm crying as I write this. I have no idea how it happened because he has been refusing solids left and right (maybe the molars) but he still gained and grew. The scale actually said 17 5 but i dropped the 5 because of the bottle he drank 1 hour before.

just to make me feel better the pedi said we can try the toddler formula because it is a better balance of nutrition. i hope he tolerates it since he's been on alimentum for so long. he is somewhat tolerating dairy aside from the horrible gas.. but, tmi i know it gives me gas too and i still eat it.. lol.

absolutely glad! i'm gonna continue them up to the next appt. in two weeks and see about the doc's opinion. i might keep them (if he wakes for them) until 15 mo. but it is wreaking havoc on his sleep because i was bringing him into bed. now, if daddy does it tho he is better able to feed him and get him back to sleep right away...in his own room atleast.

Weight gain feels great doesn't it?!?!?!

Did he suggest a toddler formula for you to use???? If he was on Alimentum beofre jsut be careful what you pick. It can be hard.

Also a toddler formula will be 30cals per oz verse the 20 per oz in infant formula.

If he doesn't do well on the switch you can always stay on the infant formula for a while yet and concentrate it more dense.

Yes, they do get more restless at this age. I think they are really dreaming and there is so much they want to do when they are awake. That is great that he grew! Let's hope this is a trend!

Good news! Elyse's GI upped her to the elecare toddler formula. It is EXACTLY the same nutritionally ( I scoured the labels, lol) as the infant one, except you mix it to 30 cal and it is vanilla flavored. i might add, she HATES IT. i thought she would drink it better but she does NOT. DOn't know if it is the flavor or the concentration, but for now we are staying with the infant one (it is labeled for infants and children with different mixing instructions while the vanilla one has only children's mixing instructions). We are adding a tiny bit extra powder and will slowly up it until it is 30 cal, hoping we can trick her into it :) Just wanted to let you know bc you might need to do the same. Also, if Coy is still having vomiting issues, other moms have said that the higher concentrations increase vomiting. :(

hmm. i've always made the alimentum 24 cal/oz. maybe i can take it back down to 20 and see if that improves the reflux. he is still "refluxing" but the zantac does seem to be controlling the pain. very litte spit-up but it still does occur. this "go and grow" is the same cal per oz just a different balance of nutrients and a different approach than going straight to milk-from what i understood.
Check with your
doctor first!
