Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(

Hey Kelly! Any updates on your husband? I hope he is home for Coy's party.

How is the sleep progressing? I have had it with my crankmonster son, so we are phasing back in the second nap. Today, he woke up at 5:30 a.m., so it wasn't too hard. Yesterday, though, it was a joke. He ended up being up from 10:45 a.m. unitl bedtime at six. ARGH. It is so hard because he needs it but doesn't want to take it. What was weird, though, is that he slept right through his night time bottle and requested it at 5:30 a.m. This marks the first time I have slept straight from 11:30 to 5:30 in nearly a year. i guess it also means that he'll let me know when he is hungry at night.

Hope little man is doing well.

Congrats on your night of rest. What a difference it makes. I used to say I crave sweets. Now I say I crave sleep.

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
Hey Melissa. Thanks for thinking of us. He got home at 1 AM and hopeuflly wont have to do this again for awhile.

sleep? What is sleep? This must be normal though since both our kids are doing the same thing. Sunday-no nap from 11 am until 730 pm. Yesterday, no nap from noon-615 when he fell asleep in the car for 10 minutes. then up until 9 pm. Today, napped from 10-11:15 (had to wake for dr. appt.. which i'll get too) and we have been trying, unsuccesfully, to get him to take a second nap. We are tag teaming and it is not going well. I took him out of the crib @ 3 for a bottle and pete has been in there with him since.

i'm glad he sleep that long. i can't imagine getting 6 hours of sleep in a row either!!! yippeeeee

my neighbor picked up a copy of Weissbluth's book from the library. i'm sure it will be a waste of my time but i'm going to read it today. I'm at my wits end....

Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!
Jumping in here....Lauren FOUGHT her afternoon nap for a long time too, I'd say from about 10 months on. I finally gave up around 12 1/2 months. There are still occasional days (once or twice a month) where I can tell she's just exhausted so she takes 2, but we are down to one since June. I did move her bedtime up about 35 minutes when we dropped the 2 nd completely too.

On another note, I read and really like Weissbluth's book. Are there somethings that I disagree with, YES (like he says reflux doesn't cause night waking -- BULLS##T) but overall as a guide it has been very helpful to get Lauren sleeping better.

Thanks for popping in Jennifer. In fact, my girlfriends non-reflux baby also fought the afternoon nap for many months and she finally gave it up around 13-14 months.. it was rough but now @ 18 mo. he is doing well with it. i've only gotten thru the first few pages but i did, however, take his suggestion. i kept him up since that "missed" nap and put him to bed @ 630 instead of seven. he fell asleep ( no protesting) in five minutes and has been asleep since. i can't believe he says reflux does not cause night wakenings.. i wonder if he still holds that position?

Hey! I guess it is their age? I'll tell you one thing, though - when he got up from his second nap - 1.25 hours!!! - he was like the old Sebastian...happy, smiling, sweet. I wonder how long I'll get to enjoy this. Totally not taking a risk that I could junx it again, though.

I have the Weissbluth book, and I don't know if it works or no t- but I do whip it out every so often...like now, when Sebastian is acting like a gladiator with endless energy and who is too busy to sleep. I swear - he doens't even SIT. He jsut chases poor Louise around ALL day. And unfortunately, she seeks refuge in the kitchen (which is her favorite room for the obvious reason)...and he toddles right in there after her...repeatedly. So all day, I nearly have a heart attack, as I am totally paranoid I missed another speck of food again.

Here's hoping you have a good night. Update me tomorrow!!

Check with your
doctor first!
