Soy intolerance
Meggy tried soy again Wednesday after 12 months of not having it, and had explosive diarrhea. She is still having the explosive diarrhea. Does anyone know would an intolerance cause problems for that many days. Wasn't sure if it is just a coincidence that she has a virus starting the same day she try's soy, or if soy intolerance effects would last that long. She won't eat much and she has hardly drank anything. Hopefully we won't have to deal with dehydration. Engi

Picture: This is what happens when you raise a kid on health food and they get ahold of a Coke! Bad mom, that soda is NOT on the reflux diet.
UPDATE: Isaiah is now 12 and off meds! He is doing great, eating again and hopefully will be catching up in the growing department. I am still in the "hoping it sticks" phase, but we're so happy that he's better!
hmm, I can't say for sure but I do know that with a wheat intolerance the reaction can last up to several weeks, and dairy can sometimes give you at least several days of issues. I think it depends on the person, and even in the same person I've noticed it doesn't always do the same thing...one day my son can eat a little dairy and not be sick, another day an even smaller amount makes him reflux all night. Sigh. For sure watch the fluid intake and take her in if she seems to be getting sicker, though...you never know if it could be something else as well or if maybe it's more of an allergy at this point than an intolerance? Hope she's better soon!

when the GI system is weakened by something it is intolerant or allergic to, it becomes more prone to sickness such as bacteria or virus. My dd is Soy intolerant (not sure if she is allergic to it or not) She had tater tots that had soy in them a few days ago and although her exposure was small ; her symptoms of diarehea lasted about 2 days- i do not know if this is typical reaction time. i do know it might vary from person to person based upon how much soy they ate and how healthy their GI system was at time of ingestion. call your dr about trying pedilyte and try to keep her diet free from milk/dairy and sugar for a few days. hth and she feels better soon! :)

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
how often is she going? anyhow, the affects can last a long time if she is truly allergic/intollerant to it. did she have the soy milk/oil/lecithin?

Also mom to Nathan. born Jan.20th, 2009, MPI . so far dx with reflux and has an extremely sensitibe GI system. Also dx with primary immune deficiency disease.
Jasmine's reactions lasted up to 3 weeks of diarrhea if she had any soy or milk. It's getting better now because her's is an intolerance, but I was conerned as well because it seemed so long.

All of you are absolutely wonderful. It is great to be able to voice my concerns-especially as a first time mom- and not be looked at like I am crazy. She is going about every three hours and it is a mess. We have gone through 15 outfits in one day. It was soy yogurt. It wasn't very much at all. Maybe an ounce and 1/2 but the diarrhea started two hours later. We went to urgent care to have her checked for dehydration and because she couldn't stop crying. After finally getting some pedialyte into her she calmed down. I am sure her head was hurting from lack of fluids. They just said to keep on with the brat diet and pedialyte. Also said she has a cornea abrasion that is likely causing the irritation. Because we had finally gotten some pedialyte into her she was doing much better by the time we finally saw a doctor and therefore they thought we were just over concerned. It does seem like it is lasting a long time. I guess I am just not used to this end of things. She has been chronically constipated since birth until she weaned herself from dairy. On the positive side after her belly has been cleaned out, she is much happier. Meggy is such a sweet heart. She makes me laugh and laugh.
Check with your
