Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
OT - Just read my very first post on here...my, how far I have come!
Ok. This is pretty off topic, but have any of you ever gone back and read your initial posts on this thing? I originally posted in early Feb of this year and had NO IDEA what t do for Sebastian. we had no allergy diagnoses at this point and were having no luck on Prilosec. I used words like "desperate" and "end of my rope."

We've come so far since then!! Sebastian has his own set of issues, but he is HAPPY and HEALTHY and a little terror! Thank you, all of you, for helping me get to the point where I can actually give advice to other mommies on here! Thank you for giving me better advice than most of our crappy doctors (I just remembered how our original ped suggested I might have Munchausen's because I took Bassy in like twice a week and was like, "Do your job and help my kid." only to be told he had colic) .I am looking at my siggy and am like, "I wouldn't have known what any of this meant a few short months ago."

I am eating the crappiest veggie burger in the land right now. Seriously, it is BAD.

It is amazing to look back isn't it?!! I just did the same thing and actually learned a few things, lol. Like, Rory USED to actually eat baby food! I knew she had eaten sweet potatoes, but I'd forgotten she had eaten peas at one point. It reminds me of just how bad she had gotten over the months that were to come, and also how crappy her bottle eating was. There was one day she had only eaten 9oz! She's come soooo far. I also found the first post where Sarah (Ceramom) and I exchanged e-mails and began chatting. A LOT has happened since then for her and Mila. It's amazing!

Picture: This is what happens when you raise a kid on health food and they get ahold of a Coke! Bad mom, that soda is NOT on the reflux diet.
UPDATE: Isaiah is now 12 and off meds! He is doing great, eating again and hopefully will be catching up in the growing department. I am still in the "hoping it sticks" phase, but we're so happy that he's better!
Yeah, me too! It's good to look back and know that things are better now. Yipes, I hope I never have to go through another winter like last winter, that was the most scary and miserable winter ever. Isaiah is doing so much better now than he was then! It's so good to see that things do, indeed, improve.

Feb. 3rd is my anniversary to pager. I can't believe how relieved I felt after getting the first response and reading I wasn't alone. I wasn't crazy. I wasn't the only one that wanted to return my puking, crying baby to the hospital.

One thing I miss though is we spent a lot more time on here joking around. I looked back and there were some pretty crazy, funny post. I miss everyone. I really hope it has to do with the weather and we can joke around again this fall. I remember a few late nights laughing so hard I almost peed my pants.

I'm so happy I found this site. Who knows where I'd be without you all!

I have not looked at my first posts in a few months...I have been here over a year now! I lurked for a couple months and then started posting a lot beginning last September. it is hard to believe I have been talking to a lot of you for a year! And hard to believe how horrible Elyse was one year ago. This weekend marks the anniversary of her PICU admit...the one where her malrotation was found. It will be a bittersweet weekend as we think back to that...

Melissa, I crapped out and ate mac n cheese with Elyse, although my intention was also to eat a fairly crappy veggieburger. lol

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
I just read my first post. I feel like I'm back where we started. I'm praying it is molars and not a delayed reaction to food. He is refusing to eat, refusing to sleep, and crying most of the time now... i wish this ride was over. i'm glad sebastian is doing so well!!! why is the burger so bad?

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I've searched my first post several times...its crazy to see how far we have come. I too miss the silly late night posts...hopefully when the nasty cold weather sets in, we will all have more time to LOL :)

Mom2Coy - Sebastian has these days and nights, too, but hhe is not on food, so it is NOT food right now in our case. I hope he has a better night for you tonight. Sharon, mac and cheese sounds delicious. The burgers were Sebastian safe. They were CRAP. Damn you, Trader Joe's. I want my $3.49 back.

Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
I will never forget when I found this site. I was so desperate for help, having felt totally blown off and misunderstood by the doctors, and feeling so confused about how best to help my suffering son. I was so afraid of using any meds, so afraid of not using any meds, and really needing to now that I was not alone. That was over a year ago, and I can't tell you how strong the draw to this site is for me...I often think, 'I need to stop reading and posting here, I just don't have the time,' but I can't stand to not check in. It would feel like walking away from friends I'd been through hell with, which, I suppose, is really what this forum is all about... (I gotta make a little extra money to donate here, I swear...I truly believe my sanity was saved because of the help and support I received here, and I look forward to being able to support it in a practical way...)
Check with your
doctor first!
