Pedi update
I want to thank you guys for all the advice and suggestions. I was able to go in the dr's office and bring to his attention alot of her symptoms and different possible solutions. If it wasn't for you guys I would have been in there like a lost little puppy. lol.. Turns out that Brailyn is protein intolerant on top of her reflux. I have to change her formula. Her pedi put her on prevacid.. ( yeah, lets hope that helps.. :) ) The acid was starting to irritate her esophagus. That was what the little pinkish/brown chunks I was seeing in her throw up. I know it just got a bit more expensive....(formula) but worth it..lol! I know I have a long road ahead of me, with her, but I'm glad I can come where others can relate.. :) Well Thank You again! Amber B.

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

Wow, it sounds like the pedi was really receptive to you. Good job. Hopefully you are on the right track now, and Brailyn can begin to feel better.

I was lucky she had a bm in the dr's office. So he got to see it and did a fecal test... talking about a smelly room...lol... I waited until the dr came in to look at it before I threw the diaper away..lol

I have to go back and get a biopsy of her intestines though, for a confirmation I guess.. Has anyone else been through this one?

This place is wonderful, isn't it. After someone suggested prevacid to me I asked my doc about it and it made all the difference. I hope prevacid works wonders for Brailyn. Did they prescrib something to help her esophagus heal? That sounds so painful.

mom2adriane&morgan
Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
Adriane had the biopsy just recently. It isn't bad. They sometimes do it along with a scope if she is having it done. It will help comfirm the intolerance but Adriane didn't have one until she was over a year old. Our GI said that it wasn't worth doing unless they were doing other tests as well because the symptoms all cofirmed the intolerance. I don't know if that makes sense. I hope that things start getting better. She is so cute! -Amanda
