I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.

Thanks so much.
We got back from the dr a little while ago, and I just got Ethan off to sleep. He weighed in at 13 lbs 3 oz. This was really good, since he weighed 10-10 at two months. We had been weighing him on a bathroom scale and for the first month, he didn't gain anything. I guess the daily formula bottle is helping him gain.
Developmentally, he is also doing well, and she said he was definitely ready to start eating some solids. She wants me to feed him rice cereal twice a day for about a month and then go on to other things, but I'd rather start with the veggies, because the rice cereal is processed and then fortified, whereas the veggies are whole foods. I'm going to mull that over, and make a decision. As she said, I'm his mom, so I can do what I like really.
He was a champ through his shots, only cried for a minute or so. He seems a little feverish now (this could be my paranoia, as I didn't bother to check ), so I gave him another dose of Tylenol. We did the Prevnar and Hib this time, and will go back in 1 month for DTap.
I was expecting a nightmare of a visit, since he didn't sleep for crap last night, and wouldn't nurse this morning. I recalled at 3 AM that I had forgotten his evening dose of Prevacid, so I gave him a full tablet and hoped for the best. He seemed to be still having trouble this morning, but this afternoon seems a little better. We'll see when he wakes up.
I am so proud of him, growing so much in such a short time. I'd better watch out, though, you all will kick me off of here for having a kiddo who is gaining well. lol

hehe! Glad he is gaining! He is beating joslyn for sure and she is older by a couple of weeks! Funny!!!!! Her doc said to wait until she was 6 months to give her "food". She said something about the Pediatric association said is is better to wait until 6 months to shy away from allergies.... plus she has not doubled in birth weight. So I think the doc wants to be careful. Let me know how he does on food. As I am anxious about starting our pooky on food too! HURRAY FOR A GREAT VISIT!!!!!!!!!
Check with your
doctor first!
