Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I'll make this short-ot-sorry I didn't
My class wasn't over ratio FOR LONG today but Maggie's teacher said they had 19-21 older toddlers today. That's 18-24mos. Two teachers. The ratio is supposed to be 1/6. Do the math.

I'm not happy with that! I can deal with a lot. I can take some things but I took this job because it seems like a good place for Mags, but if my boss is gonna keep TOTALLY DISREGARDING the safety and well-being of these kids, I'm gonna have to do something. I know her hands are tied to an extent. We had 5 teachers out today, but she needs to get some backup people or something that she can call in. I bet if she asked some of the parents, they would do what they have to do to be a sub.

I've been telling myself that my working full-time is justified bc Maggie is in a good place that's taking care of her and I know they are but this woman has got to get it together.

Several of my kids were out today. Kind of weird for a Wednesday. I honestly hope their parents woke up and are looking for care elsewhere. One of my parents said the room was "scary" yesterday when she picked up her son. She said "you must have had 25 kids in here". I said "THERE'S 30 ON MY ROLL". She was SHOCKED to say the least. She had no idea. Her dh is a surgeon. They don't NEED this ya know. I swear, I'm telling all the parents I can because they SHOULD know. My roll is posted on the door, but they really haven't looked at it ya know.

One dad got upset bc his precious little perfect son was crying when he got there yesterday. Then today when mom came he was upset bc he didn't get a sucker. I told the mom that I only gave out 4. In other words YOUR SON ISN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT DIDN'T GET A SUCKER. HE'S JUST THE ONLY ONE CRYING ABOUT IT.

Sorry y'all but parents drive me crazy! They are worse than the kids. PLEASE BE NICE TO YOUR DAYCARE TEACHER! She is stuck between the director and taking care of your kid.

Oh and how did I forget. My oldest kid smeared poop all over the wall, floor, toilet and his shirt at 5pm today. Needless to say, I left late.

UGH I love y'all for listening :)

OMGOSH that is sooo over the limit. They can loose their liscense for that. If some one calls CPS or SS they could be in hot water.

I hope some thing is done soon. It's just scary. I understand being over by ya know 2-5 kids but that far is just nuts...YIKES. Kinda makes your hair stand on ends.

And what is it with kids playing with their poo....?!?!?!? Sorry you got stuck cleaning iit up. BTDT....

And I TOTALLY agree some days it was WAY worse dealign with parents than it was the kids....HUGS

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Man o man Melis...what a CRAZY place!! Honestly, I cannot believe she doesn't do something about the teacher/child ratio. I (as a parent who sends my child to a state regulated school) would not stand for that...I would be making a call. How are you able to give them the attention they deserve (and the parent is paying for) when you have to chase after so many?? I give you credit!!!

What's up with the sucker thing?? Is it a "reward" kind of thing? I mean, if it is like them picking out of the treasure box for good behavior, I can understand that. I know Adam had one day when he didn't get a "prize" but that's b/c he didn't follow thru with his "job" for that day. He never did that again. I can see a parent/child being upset if their child didn't get a sucker if it was just a matter of not having enough for the rest of the class. I am NOT defending that child/parent...I am just trying to figure out the sucker situation, lol :)

I truly know I don't have the patience for doing that job. I bow down to Adam's teacher's for the excellent job they do. I just can't believe she doesn't hire extra people to have on rotation for when teachers "call off" for being sick. BTW...check your answering machine girl!!!!!

I would never give out a treat if I didn't have enough for everyone. I was giving them to the kids that did "extra good" listening and obeying. Like I said, I only gave out 4. I'm trying to show them that it pays to be good. I know it's kind of bribing but I'm at the point of doing whatever I have to. For example, the other day, I had to keep a few in the room to with me to do cleaning. I gave each of them a sucker bc they not only cleaned, but they cleaned "with a good attitude". My rewards are usually for stuff "above and beyond". I don't give them for finishing tasks, they need to do that any way. I like giving rewards for "extra stuff" that they don't have to do. kwim?

And Jess, I just don't know about the poo thing. He knew immediately he was in trouble but I didn't even really fuss at him bc I didn't want to get in trouble for being ugly to him. It's to the point where teachers walk on needles afraid of parents. I mean one little boy will literally fall down and say that me or the other teacher pushed him. SERIOUSLY!

OOOOHHHH, been there done that. LOL it took me a min. actually a few minutes.

She has hired a couple of new people. My new partner started today, God bless her. I keep hoping and praying that the mess will end. I'm trying to give it time for her to get the people in there that she needs. I don't want to quit. It's a good place, she just needs to get it together and find some people.

I soo understadn the "wlaing on needles" thing. When I had an aide it was much easeir becasue ther ewa salways 2 in the room. When I was by myself teachign I always had the door oopen to my room no matter what time of year it was. When I tutored after schhol it was always with groups of 2 or more and the door was openand we sat by the door for the session.

In this day and age all it takes is the "thought" or "accusation" it doesn't even have to be true. Hence the resaon I NEVER helped my K-5 student sdo any "potty" stuff. Even when they had an accident the parents were required to leave work to deal with it. Yo ujust cna't be too careful. Unfortunately.

We had a little girl who after about 4 days of school (she was in the 4th grade I think) Anyways...she went home and told her Mom that the Principal pulled her pants down and spanked her on the bare butt....all while the secretary witnessed it..!!!! YIKES.....

Totally NOT true. It's a private school so corporal punishemnt doens happpen but 99% of the time it is the parents who administer it.

They were told to withdrawl her or she would be expelled.

Exactly! It scares me when he says "you hurt me" when I know I haven't even touched him. I am cautious to even get close to him now. That's sad. I love to hug and give my kids kisses on the top of the head when they are doing good work or something. It is very scary. I wouldn't wipe one of my girls one day. I stood in the bathroom and instructed her on how to wipe herself till she got clean. I'm just not gonna do it.

Danie--I'm talking extreme parents! Like the woman that gave us instructions to keep her son's hair straight for his pic. she had worked on it all morning. YES LADY ALL I HAVE TO DO IS WORRY ABOUT YOUR SON'S HAIR! DUH LOOK AROUND. And she's the same one that said "only give him a bun, he's picky". Well, state law says that they have to have some of everything on their plate unless they have a dr's note. I can't not give him chicken because he's picky, it has to be on his plate. God forbid he might decide he likes it.

D-I got your message from today after getting home from the hospital. I felt like I "had to" talk to dh a while since he had the girls all evening. I'm sure he would have rather me talked to you. He gets tired of hearing my work babble, I'm sure.

Well, Donnessa, I am too. Here's the thing: all daycares do this and I mean ALL that I've talked to any workers about. I am trying to give her time to hire people before I jump the gun. If I see it happening much more, I will call for sure. Today was much better bc people were at work. I didn't even have kids from other classes. yeehaw!
