Mylanta And Diarrhea
Before I get concerned, I thought I would ask. My son is 7 months old in a few days. He is on Prevacid Solutab 2x/day, Soy Formula (Nutramigen was good, Soy is better for him it seems), Simply Thick Honey thickness (middle thickness) and so on. Now, to my question. He doesn't like juices. He has never really liked them. But yesterday he was eyeballing his brother's juice so I decided to give him some. I put 2 parts water to 1 part juice, thickened it and put it in his bottle. He drank it and enjoyed it and 10 minutes later started refluxing it everywhere and even silent refluxing. Sigh. No more juice. My oldest had mild reflux and could drink juice with no problems. I didn't know this was a bad idea. So I called our doctor and told him what was happening. He said give him 2ml of Mylanta 3x's/day for 2 days to help soothe his stomach. I gave him one dose yesterday evening and then it was bedtime. This morning he had the most disgusting diarrhea. Could these two be linked?

Adriane Reese 05/16/07; seemingly healthy when born; diagnosed with MSPI, severe Reflux, Apnea, Ashtma, Epilepsy, and severe food allergies(rice, corn, milk, soy, eggs, oats, wheat, beef, chicken, squash, pumpkin, avocado, etc.);On apnea monitor, seems to be tolerating RCF w/carbohydrate mixed in; on Zyrtec, Xopenex, Prevacid
It could be the juice also. Even though you say that he refluxed alot of it some of it passed through his system. If his system is really sensitive it could be from that. What kind of juice did you use. Some are easier on the refluxers than others. A could only take pear and I think diluted it so much it was more like water with a hint of juice taste. I think 3 to 1. I hope things get better for him and you. -Amanda

Yes, mylanta can cause loose stools, but it usually takes more than one dose for it to happen for my dd. What kind of juice was it? Apple juice also gives my dd loose stools. If it was his first time having juice it may have been hard on his belly and contributed to it, too.

Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Hi there...Mylanta gives Sebastian diarrhea, too...but only after a full day or so. So sorry about your little one!
