Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Hi Mary. I read your post about Nick getting wheezy. I am SO SCARED for Adam to start school on Monday. I stopped all of his meds in April and he has had maybe 1 cold/allergy episode. That episode happened during VBS. I couldn't believe with just 1 week of being with other kiddos, he got a runny nose :(

What meds do you use with Nick...are any of them OTC? We have horrible health insurance right now, we have to pay for all rx's. I was just wondering if you (or anyone else) has any luck with clariton OTC or similar allergy meds OTC.

I hope he feels better soon. I still have a TON of albuterol for the neb, so that will help us out if he gets bad. I have to go buy school supplies tomorrow...may as well add MEDS to the list.

I am worried about the school illness junk too. This is Melina's first week. She isn't sick but Ava is snotty and wheezing. I am thinking that it has to be something in the air right now, right?

Danie~ We have been using OTC generic Zyrtec for the girls and it seems to be working fine. The girls weigh enough now that I can split an adult tablet in half for them (instead of buying the liquid) so that saves money. They all complain it tastes nasty but I am trying to teach them to swallow it with some water. So far, not-so-much with the water, but they are swallowing it. LOL.

Mary & Nicholas 7-17-03 (non-refluxer)allergies, asthma on Singulair and Flovent & Aidan 1-28-07(my refluxer)Nissen Fundoplication on June 20, 2008, FTT, MSPI, DGE, ear tubes, allergies and severe GERD now currently taking just Prevacid and drinking Elecare Vanilla 1+.
Hey Danie-Hopefully it was just a fluke with VBS and he will do well with school this year. Nick is taking Flovent Singulair regularly and we use Veramyst and Pulmicort/Albuterol combo as needed when it gets bad. Aidan is taking over the counter Zyrtec as needed and it seems to work just fine. I would definitely save the cash and do that unless he really seems to not be getting relief. I hope everyones kids have healthy falls. I think Jenn is right in that there must be something in the air right now because even my eyes and nose have been bugging me and I really don't have allergy issues. When do the boys start school?
