OT- Normal Growth question
I know that this isn't a problem but I have a question. My son was always big for his age. Between 1-2 he slowed way down, normal I know. My questions is, he grew 1inch between 18mo and 2year check -up. Does this sound right? I guess there isn't anything I can do about it but I was wondering if this is "normal".

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
i dont have an answer for you but I am curious!

Aubrey was always way big for her age. Between her 12 mo and 18mo (which we actually went we she was 19mo) and she only grew 1/2 in. Pedi did not seem concerned as she told me the whole year she would slow down soon. Not sure if that helped but at least we are in the same boat.

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
I've been wondering about this as well. Halley doesn't seem to be slowing down and she's already more than half my height (at 16 months)! It will be interesting to see where she is at her 18 month next month. She has the potential to be very tall (I'm the smallest on either side of my family and I'm 5'5"). If she doesn't slow down soon, I'm going to have to start investigating basketball lesssons :-)

Ha ha. That's how i feel with Quinn. She is so tall. She just started growing when we put the oxygen on her. She is about 35-36 inches tall, which is quite tall I do believe. I am tall though and so is the family on my dad's side. I hope that she is tall, but not too tall. I'm not sure what the proper growth is. Q doesn't seem to grow unless she is getting proper medical care. -Sarah

He grew one inch in 6 months. He was measured at 24 months 34.25 inches. It's between 75-80percentile. However, he was 90 up until the 18th month check up. He was about 80th then too.

I think you might be right Mom2Coy, he gained some weight in the last couple weeks. I can tell by the way his clothes fit. That usually means he will grow soon.

Sarah, your comment concerns me (Q grows when she is healthy(er)). He seems healthy and feeling fine though. He recently developed a runny nose but I chalk that up to ragweed season.

Alot of this concern is purely selfish on my part. I am tall and my family is really tall. Hubby is my height and his family are all average (his brother is actually 2 inches shorter than me). I enjoy being tall so I guess I want the kid to be like me, lol. He already looks like me, has my personality, what more do I want, right? Fortunately it looks like he got his father's brains and that was my main concern. My husband is diabolically smart, makes me jealous.

Now that I have sickened you all bragging about my family, lol, (I just read what I wrote, geesh) I'll close my post. I am probably worrying over nothing and I will add that to my signature soon "cronic worry-wart".

Thanks all! Good night from Michigan!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Morgan was always in the 90th or higher percentile until she was 2yo. Then it dropped dramatically and she's still a squirt. I guess it's normal.

i think that 1 in is good for him in 6 mo..they gain weight 1st then height so he'll probably be 2 more inches by his next check up, for sure. he's so handsome & smart and already TALL for his age!
