Picture: This is what happens when you raise a kid on health food and they get ahold of a Coke! Bad mom, that soda is NOT on the reflux diet.
UPDATE: Isaiah is now 12 and off meds! He is doing great, eating again and hopefully will be catching up in the growing department. I am still in the "hoping it sticks" phase, but we're so happy that he's better!
Yea! Can't wait to read everyone's update! We're fine here, busy with trying to squeeze all the fun possible out of the last weeks of summer. Isaiah went med-free for a day (missed 2 doses) because he went on a spur-of-the-moment sleep over. He did OK although he did have sort of a rough evening, clearly we're not ready to go off meds yet but at least he wasn't totally miserable. We'll see how today goes. Last night, my MIL came over...she said that the exterminator they hired told her the webs around her house...which are identical to the ones surrounding ours...are brown recluse webs!?!?!!!!!! YIPES! So I am going to do a little research and then call the Orkin guy. I have calmed down somewhat, thinking possibly the exterminator was maybe making sure he had plenty of work...(dh says those webs are common and not always brown recluse) but I *hate* spiders (hatehatehatehate them) so I am totally creeped out. Also, Isaiah heard her talking about it...so now I bet he won't sleep for a week!

I have never been soooo happy to post an update!!!

Rory is eating like a normal child!!! It was like it happened overnight. We only cut her bottles by 6 oz total for the day but it has made a HUGE difference. At least I think it is that?! She is holding her bottles IF you prop her, drinking them cold. She is feeding herself and letting me feed her. She's eating yogurt, eggs, cheerios, cheese, deli meat, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti, potatoes, cookies......french fries!!! I could go on and on. I am so excited to get groceries tonight to see what else she'll eat. Pudding probably. She's still not doing fruit or veggies really, but she'll eat fruit flavored yogurt, which is HUGE!

AND, she's eating a good amount of each too. Yesterday I fed her chicken noodle soup and got up to refill her bowl and she SCREAMED at me and started crying. LOL. I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I have been dying to share this good news.....SHE LETS ME FEED HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Here's mine from the other post....

Well, since we've been "off", Maggie has had an ear inf. I had pink eye and an ear inf. Now Maggie has hand-foot-mouth so I'm home for at least part of the day till dh gets home.

We went on a wonderful anniversary mountain trip--in spite of my issues :) I will post my slideshow--you know I made one! Missed y'all!

I can't wait to see how everyone has been doing!

Halley is doing better now than last week and weekend, which is a relief. She had a fever Saturday night, but it hasn't returned, so I'm not sure what caused it. Her nose is starting to clear up again too. I'm wondering if maybe she was allergic to something at my ils.

We have an appointment with the ENT tomorrow afternoon. I hate it that she is always congested or that her ears hurt. I'm hoping that he'll be able to do something to help her. I'll let you know what he says...

It is really good to hear from everyone again. We just got back from Gulf Shores, AL yesterday. We had a ton of fun but came home to find ants all in our house so we are also having an exterminator come out. Donnie is doing okay. He is having terrible allergies, I think it is due to all the rain we have had and possible mold outside. Also he is apparently teething again and is complaining about his teeth hurting, although he points to his front bottom teeth. I am thinking that the back molars coming in are pushing and putting pressure on the front teeth causing them to hurt???. Anyway this has his reflux flared big time and with that we are dealing with sleeping issues. Hopefully this all resolves soon because we have a huge trip to Disney World coming up in December, yea!!!!! Hope everyone is doing well! -Liz

We are doing good. Nolan's third tooth finally popped through after working on it since the 4th of July!! The fourth tooth is about to come in as well. That has left Nolan a little bucky. I am working on switching him to more table foods and less formula. I never thought I would worry about his formula being to much after bottle fighting for so long. In the next month I'm going to swich him to cow's milk. Then in a couple months after that we will try another med wean.

We welcomed our newest addition to daycare. On sunday evening little Maverick was born. The lucky mother only had 3 hours of labor/delivery. They induced her at 6:00 pm and sent her home and she had to turn around and go right back and had him at 9. I don't get how some people are that lucky. I'm not sure how they induce her that she could go home. I had an iv so I had to be there the whole time.

It is so good to have pager back and I can't wait to read what other's have been up to!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
HI everyone. Good to be back. Missed all you guys. We're going thru a rough patch over here-and of course while DH is out-of-town. I think my LO might actually be getting molars @ 11.5 mo. He is shoving his bottles, fingers, everything all the way back there until he gags. He's been crying A LOT; Sleep is fleeting and eating is very sporadic. His reflux isn't the greatest either-but nothing new there! . But, the GREAT news is that I've fed him baked goods with milk & soy and NO VOMIT. I got so ambitious that i trialed yogurt again today. Praying for no Puke. He is starting to stand on his own and is trying to cruise but still very happy to crawl.. Glad to hear everyones updates.

Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
Yay for Rory and Yay for Coy! :) Hope to hear an update on Halley! Melissa-Glad you had a good time on your trip-was that in GA or TN? We had a rough week last week when of course PAGER was not working. Keira was constipated and spitting up. We finally got two good diapers full once last week and now as of today we're right back to where we were. I think she'll be eating prunes forever! I'm suprised she tolerated them as I have reflux and those things kill my stomach. But I'd tried EVERYTHING else and it wasn't working. So today back to prunes, pears, miralax and spit up. She's also teething-I'm starting to also wonder if she's getting molars at 11 months as she keeps sticking her fingers way back and chomping on them. She is now standing up more w/ out much support which is new and she's sitting up and using her legs and her butt to get her where she wants to go. She just flat refuses to get on her stomach. I think she's going to walk and forget crawling at this point. We'll see. I missed y'all!!! Glad this is back up!

Hi all! In addition to a random picture popping up in my siggy, it is an old siggy! And 2 of my posts are gone that I had posted before the site was gone. ...Elyse is a terror right now, with 4 teeth coming in at once. She ate chicken 2 nights in a row and we were ecstatic then she quit again. Last night she finally ate yogurt again though! She will pretty much only eat now if given a fork and spoon (my mom tells me that at my first bday party I sat on a chair at a little table and ate my cake with a fork...looks like Elyse is following my footsteps as her adjusted age is 12 mos)

Some days she wants one bottle and other days 3, some days drinks 5 oz the whole day, then yesterday drank 14. Wierdo! Still won't drink milk. I give her a cup several times a day then pour it down the drain (I don't drink milk, esp not whole milk! My butt is big enough!) Glad to hear some of these good updates!!! We have GI on Friday

I totally did loose a lot of data. I even had to update my siggy. Anyways, I emailed some of you about what happened to Quinn. Last week, she had a very bad convulsive seizure. My dad was watching her and he had to call 911. She was taking her nap and my dad went in there to check on her and she was seizing really bad and he couldn't get her out of it. We don't know how long it was. I called the neurologist on call and he basically told me that instead of it affecting a small portion of her brain, it affected her entire brain. It caused a bit of a regression in her. All the good that she was doing, well, she is back to being clumsy. She has so many bruises all over her body from falling. She has been laying around more again. I'm thankful that it only affected her speech for a day or so. She is back to talking quite well again. It's a bit of a set back in therapy though. Her PT was so sad to see this and gave me some new therapies to do with her to try and get her back on track. I'm not sure what Neuro plans on doing, but the on call guy told me that it's quite normal for epileptics to have these kind of issues. He increased her seizure medication. So far, she has not had another one, but it makes me wonder if she is having them in her sleep now. That one wiped her out and she DOES have her good and bad days, KWIM? We still have not gotten a pulse oximeter. It's a battle right now. But now i am even more aggravated about it since she is having those kind of seizures in her sleep. She NEEDS to have a pulse oximeter. Anyways, I wrote an update on my blog: web.mac.com/sarah8606. I don't have time at the moment to read all your updates, but will definitely do so tomorrow. -Sarah

Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!
Lauren started the new babysitter (who I LOVE) last Thursday and seems to really like it there. She has not cried when I left one time :) She had a raging head cold by Sunday. She's still very stuffy and I am just really, really hoping that this doesn't go to her ears. Meanwhile, she has also cut 3 new teeth, bringing our grand total of teeth to 6 -- all on the bottom!!! She has her 4 front teeth and her molars, but nothing on top. Dh thinks her top gums are swollen now too.

On another topic, I go back to teaching 4th grade tomorrow :( I love the days of not always being in a big hurry...I'm sure I'll have some good school stories to share soon enough.

Glad to hear from everyone again! And so many lo's made big milestones too!!!

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
Hi everyone! Phew glad pager is back! Thought I was going nuts! Joslyn is doing pretty well. She is now able to sit with assistance! Very little assistance. That is huge to us... but not so huge for ML. but what ever! Joslyn goes back to her pedi for her 4 month check up next week. We are hoping for 12 lbs!!!!!!!!! Jacky

ethan's mom
Meridith, mom to Ethan born 4/23/08. Ethan was diagnosed with reflux at about 1 month. He has been on Zantac (unsuccessful) and Prevacid. He is currently taking 7.5 mg of Prevacid 2x per day, with good results. We also suspect MPI, though this hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet.
Ethan is mostly breastfed, though we are doing one bottle of soy formula each day. We also do some homeade "solids' including, so far pears, avocado, sweet potato, and peaches.
Photobucket
I am so glad Pager is back, as well. I thought I was going to go crazy when I didn't have a support forum for this stuff! Ethan is doing fairly well. He is still having the feeding issues, but if I wait four hours between feedings, he actually eats better. Of course, then I worry that if he spits any back up, he isn't getting enough for the day. I guess worrying is just something I have to do. Ethan is working on the sitting up, but still needs some support. We are also practicing having him sit in his high chair, hoping the pedi gives the ok to solid foods. We go next Thursday for a four month check-up, and like others, we are hoping for good weight gain. I am also worried, the pedi believes that reflux clears up at four months, so we may have to have a serious discussion about keeping him on meds. Hopefully, I am just worrying for nothing!
Check with your
doctor first!
