Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Well, we're off to the ENT...
I took Halley into the pedi today and yep, ANOTHER double ear infection (plus sinus infection). This makes number 5 officially since December (although I still think the pedi's count is off by about 3). I've lost count of the number of sinus infections - I think we're at number 10 or 11. He gave us a referral to a couple of ENTs - I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see if I can get her in very soon. I'm so tired - she's only been well 4 days in the last 40 or so (ear infection/sinus infection, then roseola and now this). Her sleeping is in the crapper, although it's never been great. I'm hopeful that getting tubes will finally allow us all to get some uninterrupted nights' sleep. Her refluxing is up quite a bit too, which we've been able to manage with Mylanta. Has anyone else experienced that when their kids had ear infections?

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I'm so sorry! I hope you get some help from the ENT. I got in with mine pretty quick and it's pretty easy to get appts. Hopefully yours will be the same.

Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!
I hope you can get in really fast and get the tubes surgery next week! I have 3 good friends at work that absolutely swear that tubes were the best things they did for their kids.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
UGH. I am so sorry! Yes, Sebastian's reflux gets worse when he has sinus infections. Can you ask about Nasonex? I am not a big fan of steroids, but this one is really helping keep Sebastian's passages clear. I hope it goes well!

I hate you are going through this. The reflux flare could be due to the sinus infection as well. I am in love w/ tubes. They helped both kids so much! I hope you can get in asap. Let us know when you get in!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I too think the reflux gets worse when they have eari infections, it did with Nate. I can't believe she has been so off and on with her sickness...she deserves a break (and so do mom and dad). When we got Adam his tubes (he was 3, I wish it was sooner) he slept sooooo much better, not to mention LESS ped visits. Let us know how it goes at the ENT. If they do tubes soon, it should make for a healthier fall season for her (fingers crossed)!

Kelly, mom of two boys with GERD. John (born 11/03) was on 40mg Nexium til 15 mos old. Second son Brian (born 05/07) started on Zantac. Now on 22.5 mg Prevacid Solutabs plus Carafate 0.5 ml 1 x day
Brian got his tubes last week and by that afternoon he was fine. They told us we might see a little blood-tinged discharge from his ears after the surgery but I never saw any discharge at all. I brought him back to the pedi yesterday because he had been up all night and I was worried there was some problem with the tubes because he kept pulling at his ears but it turns out he is cutting his 2 yr molars and that is what is hurting. She said his tubes and ears looked perfect. I am hoping this is the end of ear infections for us but time will tell. Good luck!
Check with your
doctor first!
