orange juice
Hi everyone. We just got back from a vacation up in michigan (it was great...) but I am glad we brought Joslyn's maloox! I was stupid and did not think... but every morning I had orange juice with breakfast (something I never do.. I only drink water) well for 3 days she had a horrible time with her Silent Reflux! Always at her 7 pm feeding. It was some of the worst episodes she has had. She had no apnea with them luckily. We had to give her the maloox and then a BM bottle the first time she had an episode up there... then I nursed her. then it happened 2 more times! DUH...... orange juice! I stopped drinking it and the day it was out of my system she had no more episodes! So the milk I had pumped we threw out! I normally can save about a bottle a day.. but we dumped 3 bottles. I did not think about it! I felt so bad that I caused her to have an episode! She would scream bloody murder and refused to nurse. She would latch on then scream.... latch on and scream... and so on. What a bad mommy i am. She will be 4 months old tomorrow... and you can see her two front top teeth!!!!! They are just under the skin and you can see them just perfectly... like 2 white bumps! Why is it her non breast feed cousin who is 10 months has no signs of teeth and she does!!!!!!!! Insane I say insane! Jacky

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.

Poor thing! I hope she starts to feel better!

Katie has had a little white bump on her bottom tooth area for months and we thought it would break through but it hasn't. Maybe you will go through the same thing!

Happy early birthday Joslyn!!

Don't beat yourself up over the OJ. It happens. Nicholas will be four months next week. Though I don't see any white yet, I know he is teething as he is drooling like mad and trying to chew his fingers off!!

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I don't know how that works with teeth! I kind of don't think it has anything to do with nursing, though...probably more to do with heredity? Sebastian got three teeth when he was four months old and then another three when he was six months old. Now he's teething again, but there ae no signs of anything breaking through!

So sorry she had trouble with the OJ. But don't beat yourself up over the episode. Sometimes it happens...it's not your fault. You didn't intentionally do anything to hurt her!!!Hope she feels better ASAP!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
teeth come in dependent upon genetics. i was BF and started getting mine @ 5 mo. my son is now formula fed got his first one @ 5 mo. as well and hasn't stopped he has 8 @ 10 mo adjusted. if she is going to teethe this early then she may have a tougher time with reflux during this time as well.

Mom to Ethan, born 4/23/08. Diagnosed with Reflux at about 1 month, started medicating with Zantac, which wasn't helpful for us. At about 2.5 months, we started on Prevacid, twice a day, and that is working much better.
Ethan is breastfed and has a few solids that he is enjoying very much.
I'm sorry to hear about the OJ incident. Luckily you figured it out fairly quickly and could help get her back to normal. Congrats on the teeth. It seems that the consensus is that breastfeeding doesn't change that, but I know that it is nice to have your little one do something ahead of schedule, or ahead of others you know. I felt that way when Ethan started rolling over a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to shout, "I may have a fussy kiddo, and yours may sleep through the night way early, but mine is the fast track to crawling!" Meridith

its never really good to wish for them to teethe early :) for most it worsens the reflux and the earlier you get teeth the more likely that you will have cavaties as a child.
Check with your
doctor first!
