Jesse, Mommy to:
Joseph William, 2/19/2007.
Diagnosed *finally* with GERD at 11 months. Stopped pevacid at 2.5 years old.
Lilybelle, 3/11/2009.
Another kid with REFLUX! Upper GI on Monday. PH Probe and Modified GI in a few weeks. Currently takes 7.5mg Prevacid once daily.
On an "empty" stomach?
Who actually manages to give Prevacid on an empty stomach? Its becoming more and more difficult as he gets older. I have enough trouble remembering to give it to him 2X a day... let alone on an empty stomach.

The pnuemonia is finally clearing up. He's sleeping again. It was really strange how we slid back into our old habits while he was so sick. Last year was so brutally hard... its been so nice this summer with him feeling a little better and finally sleeping. The 2 weeks with pnuemonia were like a time warp back 6 months.

We saw the GI specialist last week. We have to go back again in 2 months. If Joseph is still throwing up at all we have to do the Endoscopy. :(

Hope all our little refluxers are feeling good today. Thinking of you all.

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
We really do try. Sometimes she doesn't get it when she should time wise so that we can give it in between feedings. Katie is being scoped in September since she is still throwing up/refluxing/not gaining weight. Glad he is sleeping better and feeling better!!

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I try, but it's hard. But now we are on the suspension and from what I know, the suspension need not be given in advance...

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
I definitely find dosing it in the afternoon/evening so much easier, as we do pepcid in the morning and that doesn't need an empty stomach or wait time before food. Glad he's getting better!!!!

I was thinking about that this morning. It is really hard. She does one in morning and one before dinner. I usually average one a day on an empty stomach. It is 7:00 am now and I just gave it to her and she is SCREAMING for something to eat.

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
I get up at 5am and give him the prevacid...ona good day he barely even wakes up I just shoot it in with a syringe. The he gets fed at 6 when we get up for real. Works pretty well MOST of the time. We have just recently tried splitting the's MUCH harder to get that empty tummy in the need to wait at least an hour after a bottle and an hour before a bottle and my son is a snacker, so there isn't always a lot of time between bottles...we dont always get it right.

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
i just met a new neighbor who happens to be a nicu nurse. when her 11 mo. old was littel she too had bad silent reflux (has grown out of it). anyway, i was telilng her how coy is on the zantac because prevacid gave us too many problems (waiting to feed, tummy aches, etc.) she said that the best thing to do is to give it 3X a day (continuously in the system) AND that she would give it to her daugher right before a bottle! AND it still worked that way. she said no need to wait... i'd check with your docs of course but we are going to give it a try. zantac isn't cutting it.
Check with your
doctor first!
