Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.

Hey!!! This sounds so much like what happened to me. I did a hpt test-it was positive. Then about five days later I went in for an ultrasound because I was having major pain on one side and being that one tube is blocked already it scared me that I was having a tubal. They did an ultrasound but could only see the sack but said I was very early on. They then tested my progesterone and said it was dangerously low and put me on meds for that and told me to hope for the best. Then I had bleeding and I had to see a new ob that was closer to home. He did an ultrasound-said there was no baby in the sack and told me he'd do another HCG lab draw but that he'd also schedule a d&c and told me that I was miscarrying. He called it a "blighted ovum" and said the baby never formed-just a bunch of cells. DH and I went home broken hearted and for a number of days we were waiting to see if I was going to m/c on my own or if I had to have surgery. Meanwhile I kept cramping and spotting. Close friends came by for support and to bring dinner for us. Then after like the 4th day the doctor called and said I needed to come in again and redo an ultrasound. I had to WAIT ANOTHER COUPLE DAYS just to get in. I was so confused-here I was preparing for a m/c and yet the baby could still be there?!? So I go in nervous as ever and he starts the ultrasound and says "I see something but you have to pee first" So I go take care of that and then have to wait another 15 minutes for him to come back in the room and he starts again. Sure enough-there was a 6 weeker w/ a heartbeat. I remember almost fainting. This man saved her life but yet he could have also taken it if he hadn't done his homework first. I will admit-I had spotting and such all through the first trimester and into the second and I was worried after the lovely scare I had but Keira came and she's alright. Keep fighting-you're baby needs it! :) I'm so happy for you!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Sadie, these kinds of stories are why I get unnerved when a doc says a preg. has to be terminated. You just never know! So glad your doc figured it out.

Yes this same doctor told me that some doctors would refer their patients to him for a d&c and when in the OR right before the operation he'd do another u/s just to be "safe" and sure enough there was a baby that had a heart beat. Scary, huh?

It is so nice to hear of other stories like ours and see the picture of the healthy (well for the most part) baby here today. I was telling my dh and he wanted to know all about her and see the pic! I tried to respond last night, but my computer would not let me update...ugh. Thanks!
Check with your
doctor first!
