Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Will definitely post some tonight, but how the heck do you administer Zegerid?
I can't figure out how to do it!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I know Jennifer (mommyto2) gives it to Aubrey. I am sure she will respond to you when she reads this...I think she even bought some special syringe type things to use. I believe abbysmom knows too :)

Mathias Johann - 12/14/05 - GERD, Hypotonia, Sensory Processing Disorder, Dyspraxia; Stopped silently aspirating at 20 months :)
First partial seizure on 7/2; First Endoscopy on 7/16; results: bile reflux gastritis.
New Meds: Zegerid & Carafate
Allergic to dairy
We mix it with 2 TBSP of water and he drinks it out of a cup. The taste doesn't seem to bother Mathias. If a cup isn't an option I would guess a syringe.

For some reason the Marci-Kids website isn't working. It coudl just be my computer though. :P I also check Infantreflux.org and in the medicine forum you can find some info on it. There are quite a lot of moms that have los on it that post there.

I will be gone today but I will help as much as I can. I use the 20ml syringes (again ordered off marci-kids but site is down). What I do is put a few ml's of water in a syringe then dump the packet into the syringe, we are on 20mg packets, then fill the water up to the 20ml line. I put the plug on it and shake it then put the stopper on the bottom. Now for a while I only had 10ml syringe so I had to measure and divide the the packets of zegerid (took so much longer but doable) and I still mixed it the same way. If you are using the 40mg packets I am sure the water amts are different but I don't kow what they are. I hope this helped some. If not email me and I will help you through it. jenniferhaub@sbcglobal.net

I have a love hate relationship w/ zegerid. I HATE mixing the stuff up but it does work well for Aubrey. If you can do it I highly recommend ordering the syringes off marci-kids. It was $45 for 25 syringes but since you can mix zegerid up for like 20 days in advance it works well. I tried the pharmacy around here for syringes w/ caps, I tried TSC, vets clinics and I could not find something that seemed to do the job right. The problem is w/ some of the caps the powder will settle in the cap of the syringe. It was a pain. Again email if you have questions!
