Do y'all mind if I update?
Part of this is off topic but the other is about reflux. First, I will update on Donnie's neurology visit. He had his EEG done last week and the preliminary reading (the neurologist looked over it quickly while we were in the office) looked good, he didn't see any seizure activity at that time. He still has a pretty bad eye tic which the neurologist said would take him growing out of and there is no way to know how long that will be. The thing is we were riding in the car the other day and the late afternoon sun was in his face and he had his hands over his eyes screaming "the light". I looked back and his eyes were watering terribly. I got him some sunglasses and don't know if I should take this onto maybe an opthalmologist (sp?) or not. Anyway the other issue we are having is that here recently his reflux as kicked into high gear. Just last week or so he spit up a couple of times and seems to constantly have the hiccups. One day he woke up from his nap crying of a tummy ache. I gave him some Maalox and within an hour he was back to his old self. He is very fussy lately and picks through his food and doesn't really eat. Does this need more than the occassional Maalox? Should he be put on something more regular you think? I don't know what to do about it. So anyway, thanks for listening to our update! -Liz

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
What do you mean "do y'all mind"? Of course we want to know what's going on! About the eye...when Morgan started doing it, I had her seen just in case. I'm actually gonna have her eyes checked again because she's doing it a lot lately and told me that things are blurry sometimes. So I would just for peace of mind.

About the reflux...have you tried elevation and diet restrictions? If you're doing all those things, I'd have that checked out too. Sounds like he is having some issues. sorry I've gotta hurry!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Hey Liz. Glad to hear the eeg went well. I would take him to the eye dr's worth a shot. I would try maalox for maybe a week or 2 and then just call the ped. I am so bummed to hear it's acting up again. Nate is going thru a bad spell as well. I hope the maalox alone does the trick...pepcid was a good night med for took just a small dose to help him make it thru the night. I think I may be calling our ped for another rx for that!! Glad to hear from you :)

Pictured: G'mom w/3 kids. I'm mom to 1 angel Melissa (dec'd 11/92 - hypoplastic left-heart syn.)
2 healthy daughters (knock wood) Cory (16), Kim (11) & Eric (4) diagnosed with e.e. (scoped 8/08), GERD & severe food/seasonal allergies, asthma. Cried non-stop first 17 mths. of life Found out he is allergic to cow's milk, soy, eggs, and peanuts. Takes Prevacid, Neocate One Plus & Flovent.
Ok, another thing our sons have in common. Eric's eyes are really really sensitive. We have had bouts of allergic conjunctivitis since spring. But, the light thing is all the time. He always rubs his eyes in sunlight & wants the shades down or the lights off (esp. during a diaper change). We did have to see an opthamologist a few months back. And, Eric's reflux is still not under control. We are heading back to CHOP for more testing in Aug. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Will there ever be an end to all of this? Ellen

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
Just a thought - my dh's eyes have very large pupils and he always needs his shades to walk out the door. This may be the case.
