Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!

I am so sorry to hear that Coyle's upper GI was so hard. Lauren "had" one at our local hospital when she was about 4 months old. When I say "had" I mean attempt. The radiologist refused to test her because she did everything little Coy did. Refused to drink, screamed about being strapped down and it was just disastrous. I cried all the way home from the hospital. I actually think it was after that failed test was when I finally got up the courage to post here and find out what others thought. We ended up having to have a Swallow Study and it was 100 times better. She could sit up in a seat, facing me and drink from a bottle.

If Coy has not already had a Swallow Study (I can't remember, sorry) I would recommend that if they want to look for reflux or abnormalities. It seems that a lot of the same info can be derived from either test. We've had 2 Swallow Studies now and they were so much better than the awful upper GI.

I try not to relate that story before people go for the UGI...but know that it's not an easy test for other kids too. I hope he takes a nice long nap for you and you can relax a little too!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
Thanks Jennifer. This radiologist was the same one that performed his cath to check for VCR but I ordered them to stop the test when his HR was up over 240! he wasn't hooked up to a monitor this time but he also did take a few breaks in crying so i know it never got that high. he took an hour and a half nap-which is decent but has been fussy since. prob. since he can't poo...

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
God, Kelly, that is HORRIBLE. I cannot believe they strap these kids down! They didn't strap Sebastian down, and he was starting to pull to sitting at that point. Your poor little guy. I know how awful it is to watch, but he has forgotten about it by now (although you never will). The Hopkins blood people were awful, too. They couldn't get enough blood in one arm, so they had to restick him in the other! He had bruises for three weeks. I started to get paranoid about his ability to heal at that point, but then they went away. So sorry. I don't think your man has EE. I really don't, but then again, I'm not a doctor. I really think he has some issues like Sebastian plus his own set of problems. Please keep us updated.

thanks melissa. i too don't think EE is the culprit either. just issues with food. i'm almost positive it has to do with the strong antibiotics he was on after birth.. jmho.
