Single mom of 2 boys!
Trey 12 years: Autism and food intolerances
Logan born 1/26, 10 weeks premature. Severe GERD. Current treatments: Prevacid 3.2 mls every 12 hours, Reglan .8 mls every 8 hours, .6 mls of carafate before feedings, lactulose 1/2 tsp. every 6 hours and .6mls iron daily.
New medicine
It has been forever since I have been on here, but I hope someone may have advice for me. We have had continuous problems with Logan's reflux. He is 6 months old now, 4 mths adjusted. He is still on previcid but I have taken him off the reglan. The GI doc put him on a new med called Belladonna-Phenabarb. I am a bit nervous about it. Any one have any experience with it? It is a anti spasmodic. The doc seems to think Logans reflux is being brought on by spasims in the lower GI tract... Thanks, Wendy

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Hello! I don't know anything about that med, but I am sure someone on here will. These moms know everything!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
that is typically used for irritable bowel. have they done any lower or upper GI? has he had a scan done for DGE? or did they just diagnose slow gastric emptying by symptoms? this is a serious drug. has sedation side-effects in adults but causes hyperness in children. why off the reglan? this might have the same side-effects.

I took it when I had the horrible peptic ulcer a couple of months ago. It was the only thing that helped until the acid blockers could kick in. I have no experience with it in kids though. Mine have not used it. It was my understanding that it is a very old med... maybe this is a new formation or something?

This doc is almost 100 years old, so I wouldnt be surprised if it is something old! lol! His stomach emptying scan showed a 30% delay. I guess that is why he is going this route. He was still having lots of symptoms thru the reglan and sometimes not pooping. I also didnt like the neurological side effects. He had begun jerking his arms strangely. This med dosent make Logan hyper and I havent seen any side effects so far (and he's pooping better then ever before), but I want to make sure I'm not giving him something that will cause more problems then it fixes in the long run! Thanks for all the info/advice so far! Wendy

i'm glad that it is helping with the pooping and associated symptoms. as long as he isn't experiencing side effects from this one it actually does really work. many people get it for IBS and have had no problems. my kiddo (as do i) get paradoxical -opposite-reactions to many drugs that should make you sleepy or even just calm but they hype us up. so, maybe he does not have tha tproblem. keep us updated!
