Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
Day 3
Day 3 down-still no issues and we're at half Nutram and half Similac Sensitive. I'm in shock and dh called the GI office Monday as I was still a little ticked about him pressuring me to switch her formula. They said they felt Keira's reflux was minor compared to other kids they see (well yes but the first 4 months or so were absolute torture for her and I both) and that they feel she'll be fine on regular formula. They've seen her twice and they know all this? Oh well...for now it seems to be working. They said they didn't see why I'm bothering to slowly transition and that I could just go cold turkey but I'm doing it the way I see best for Keira. Anyways just had to update.... ;)

katiesmommy
Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.

Glad she is doing good!!!

For months our pedi made me feel like the stupidest person for spending money on Alimentum until Katie stopped gaining weight; then I was wise to buy such an easy to digest formula. No, he didn't say that he just commented that her formula is easy to digest so he didn't want us to switch. He wanted us on AR and no matter how often I told him rice makes her puke big time he still kept pressuring it like he holds stock or something! Uhhhh.....sometimes I want to go in there with evidence of my education so they don't think I am stupid for being a SAHM!! BTW: of course you need to tell them all that Keira is doing so good because you are taking the time to slowly introduce her to the new formula and not rushing it! :)

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Yeah Keira! Not to be rude, but I don't give a crap what your GI says...mommy knows best. If you think that transitioning slowly is the best way (which I think is totally the right way to go), then keep doing what you're doing. Good luck - I hope this change sticks!

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
As for going slowly, why upset her tummy any more? We took 6 weeks to transition my dd from Nutram to GS, though she was doing fine with the switch. Glad she's doing better, and don't take any "I told you so's" since all you're trying to do is make her feel her best!
