Kathryn, Pager Volunteer and mommy to Emily Mia 02/04/07. 3 years old with GERD. 30mg Prevacid and Pepcid AC. Mylanta needed for flares. Failed prilosec med switch. Tried and failed many med weans but GERD and pain are well controlled. Functional constipation. Reoccurring SBBO. Suspected IBD or autoimmune disease. Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
Another MPI/bf question
We took Audrey to the Pedi yesterday, i can't freaking believe she is already 5 weeks old! She is about 8.5 lbs and 20 inches long. So in regards to her not pooping, The pedi said that her belly was not hard this time but very gassy and still wants me to give her juice. He said her throwing up the first time was normal (mostly b/c she is trying to bear down to poop causing food to reflux out) and gave me some tips to make the next intro smoother. I still don't want to do juice but it's better then suppositories and rectal stimulation, YUCK! lol

he also retracted his earlier guess that she was not milk protein intolerant and now says that she IS. He says that the milk and dairy i am eating are causing her to become gassy and constipated b/c her b/ms are full of mucus (which he was right about she pooped last night and sure enough, mucus). And although she is not crying and screaming all the time it is not good for her and may cause pain in the future.

He said he would bet anything there is probably occult blood in her stool and said if i could bring in a diaper next time he would test it for us. (last time he said he would "bet anything" was when he thought Emily had kidney reflux- he was right...)

so does this sound possible: that Audrey would have MPI and not be in pain?

Worry Wart mom to
27 mo. reformed "happy spitter"
34.8lbs , 37in tall(oct)
Diagnosed A/R at 6 wks
Zantac until 1yr then Prevacid
Med free since February 08
peanut & egg allergies...still
Zoo Boo Trick-or-Treating (pic).
I think the worst sign of MPI in my son was the rash that covered his whole body. He didn't seem to be in any pain from it. As soon as we changed his formula, miracle, the rash went away. Aside from some lingering eczma, he was cured.

Mom to Eddie 1/07 and Nicholas 6/08. Eddie allergic and refluxer now on cow's milk!!!! Nicholas also a refluxer on prevacid and breast milk. Mom on elimination diet AGAIN!!
Nick is MSPI I think he had some blood in his stool a few times, I must say that it was hard to see I basically inspect every poopy diaper. Mind you I have been on the elimination diet since he was born. So I am not sure what the allergy was. He is also not the super crying type like eddie was. He cries but just not as much. He has also recently started complaining much more where the first 2 weeks he was such a good quiet baby. I stick to the diet and will have some chees in a month and see how it goes. Also each time I have eaten food that is from a restaurant he gets a rash on his face. Thinking of you :O)E

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
i agree with the pps. some babies are different. my son takes after his mama.. in that i don't do well with pain or uncomfortableness. my dh tho could get hit by a mack truck and wouldn't complain. looks like she's gonna be an easy baby if it is the case. there also doesnt have to be blood in the stool to be MSPI.. blood is present in true allergies btw.. at least that is my understanding. so can still be mspi but not allergic kwim
