We love the Gp's as we call them. They are pretty easy. Before we had them in a regular cage. That was yucky bc it had to be cleaned so often and it stunk. Now we have them outside in a hutch. You just slide the bottom out and dump it, spray it off, and that's it. Ever so often I do a better more detailed cleaning but for the most part, that's it. They are skiddish, but they're warming up. We don't have as much time to spend with them as I'd like but we do some. It's just too stinkin hot to be out there holding them most of the time.

So far it hasn't been too expensive either. I keep timothy hay, carrots, parsley, vitamin c drops, gp food, and a treat for them. Also the bedding but with the hutch, there's only a small portion that has to be covered with bedding. I've had the same big bag of the good stuff for the whole time and still have a good bit left. I've only had to buy a new bag of food twice. The parsley is only $0.69 and they only get about 6 little carrots a day. I tried to do without the vit c drops but I realized they have to have them.

Thanks for the info!!! It sounds just like our rabbits. DH doesn't want a guinea pig, donnie really wants one and I am up in the air about it and wanted to find out about them before we made up our minds. I will pass all of that along to dh and see if he will come around, lol. Thanks! Liz

Oh, if you already have rabbits, it's pretty much the same I think. I think they do best in pairs though. According to what I read. They might can even be together I don't know.

You probably know this but beware-it's that season....I got one before and it was already pregnant!
Check with your
doctor first!
