Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
So I'll make this nice and brief-maybe not
The afterschool director called me on the down-low. I'm not supposed to let the principal know that he's giving me "insider info".

Basically he said that I came across as having a passion for the kids but the other girl came across as having more passion for the other stuff.

He didn't come out and say it but I'm guessing that means that she will get the job. He said they are toying with having a dir. and an asst. dir.

What is killing me now is the thought that I WON'T GET THE JOB BECAUSE I HAVE A PASSION FOR KIDS!!!! You tell me--shouldn't the director of an afterschool program HAVE A PASSION FOR KIDS? I mean any goober can do books and half-way learn to handle a few employees. NOT EVERYBODY CAN DEAL WITH 100+ KIDS WITH PASSION.

I swear these school district jobs are nothing but a crock. They do what they want to do and that's that. I feel like Red when he went in for his parole hearing on Shawshank. "just stamp your paper and let me be on my way sonny"

Well, my quote was close, lol. I was actually thinking about another part where he got rejected at the beginning.

Picture: This is what happens when you raise a kid on health food and they get ahold of a Coke! Bad mom, that soda is NOT on the reflux diet.
UPDATE: Isaiah is now 12 and off meds! He is doing great, eating again and hopefully will be catching up in the growing department. I am still in the "hoping it sticks" phase, but we're so happy that he's better!
Aw man...I hope you still get the job! Sheesh, I agree. If my kid were in an after school program, I'd be looking for one where the director had a passion for kids....when it comes down to it, what even IS the "other stuff"? (((hugs))) to you, I hope you find exactly the right job soon. I guess it's not much, but if they are looking for someone who is more interested in the 'other stuff', you would probably not have been happy doing that job. Nothing is worse than having to advocate for the kids you work for constantly, only to have administration ignore you! I speak from experience...it's sort of like getting paid for smacking your head against a brick wall over and over all day long....

That's exactly right....I emailed you also Erica. I do have that back-up job. I would just love to get into the school district for the schedule and such. God knows best. He'll do what's best for me.

Oh man! At least you have other lines in the water! Everything works out for a reason. Do you really want to work for people who don't show the passion for the kids? ((HUGS))

Nope, if they offer me the asst. dir. position-I most likely won't take it. I'd have to really like the $$ and hours and then put aside a lot of ill feelings. I can do it but it wouldn't be easy.

This is what I'm gonna have to do if I don't get the job. I'm gonna have to remember that it wasn't in God's will and that the daycare job is best for US. I'll have to put aside my ill feelings and look on the bright side.

So sorry that they are getting caught up in the "paperwork" of the job! Do you know that this movie is on RIGHT NOW! I think it's on cinemax (dh is watching it) but the part where he got rejected was just on! too weird!

SO I THOUGHT ABOUT EMAILING THIS TO MY EX-BOSS, BUT I GUESS I WON'T:This is just something that I need to say.....it's between you and me as FRIENDS! not between us as interviewer and interviewee :) I know that I don't interview well, but I wish the fact that she didn't even want the job could be considered. I bet if I hadn't kept telling her how much I wanted the job and how I'd love it, she wouldn't have even decided to apply. She didn't want it at all! She was sick of hwc. That's what kills me. Another thing that's killing me is that if it were me making the decision, I'd want the person that had a "passion for the kids". I mean, that's the important part right? I know either of us will do a good job, I just personally feel that the person that WANTS THE JOB and HAS A PASSION FOR KIDS would do a better job. ok, that's my rant. Like I said, that's between us as friends. I just had to let you know that whether I get the job or not, I WANT IT. I want it bc I want to be with the kids again, not bc I want benefits or more money. My pay at the childcare center will be $10 less than hwc director. Not a big difference, but I would rather have the hwc job because the kids are older and it's more fun than the preschoolers. God knows what is best for me and I keep telling myself that. I will be ok whatever happens.

If you are pretty good friends with this lady, I'd send it. What would it hurt? It may not get you the job but you'll get your feelings out.

Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Ugh, how frustrating. I'm so sorry it turned out that way. God has a reason for not placing you in the job, even if it isn't clear now. To be honest, if the reason that the interviewing committee chose the other person is because of "passion for the other stuff", then it probably wasn't going to be a good fit for you anyway...more than likely too much focus on the political bs and less about the kids. My dh was in a situation like that one time and he was SO miserable - he was actually told by his superintendent at the time that "it's not about {to paraphrase} educating the kids, it's about having people like you". Whatever. I pray that the daycare job will be a great fit.

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Well, this would explain why all of my past bosses (outside of current ones of course, in case they are stalking me on PAGER) have been morons. My dad always talked about how so many people get managerial jobs because someone owed them a favor, etc. The school is going to really miss out if they pass you up. I am realy sorry, but maybe you will still get it....it ain't over til it's over!

I know Melissa, I'm putting the cart before the horse, but I could just tell in his voice and stories that they're not gonna pick me. I really think he was trying to "soften the blow".

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
Sorry! I worked as a substitute teacher for a district while I was getting my credential and worked every day, was requested way in advance by teachers and was snatched up to do long-term subbing but was told by a couple of friends that they wouldn't hire me full time because they didn't want to lose me as a sub. The day that I got my letter stating that they wouldn't be interviewing me they called to set me up for the next YEAR with long term positions; I became a receptionist at a land development company because I couldn't pay the bills as a sub. They lost me completely when I was a d**n good teacher! It worked out for the best and I think this will too; unfortunately they often hire the people that are better at paperwork and bs-ing instead of good with people/kids. They want someone they know that they can control and will agree with them because she obviously said what they wanted to hear and not the truth! Something better is waiting for you, I believe it!!!

Thank you Katie's mom! Subbing isn't bad, but it's not good either! I did it for a year or so till I had Mags. I knew going in it was political, but I got my hopes up.
Check with your
doctor first!
