ketchup?
Does anyone use ketchup for a toddler with reflux? I haven't tried tomatoes, but since stopping all milk/dairy products I am having a hard time finding things Molly is allowed to eat and also willing to eat. I used to make scrambled eggs with cheese, and when I tried them plain she wouldn't eat them. I was thinking about adding a tiny bit of ketchup, but I am nervous. She has finally slept through the night for 2 nights in a row after stopping all diary!! I really don't want to give her anything that might mess her up, or make her reflux flare up again.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I personally wouldn't chance it. That's just me though. We walked very lightly when Mags actually slept well :)

Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
We've just started letting Halley have it...in small amounts. We haven't seen a reaction (and she does tend to react a little bit to things with a lot of tomato sauce). If you decide to try it, just do it at lunch or breakfast so she'll have the day to recover.

I've given my 10 mon old a little bit of Ketchup on a french fry. But his reflux is controlled with meds. I'd be hesitant to mess with what is working too.

Abby LOVES ketchup! It has never bothered her. But no foods ever bothered her reflux except milk and soy.

Ketchup is on the list of things not to eat from my pediatric GI. It is really hard because my daughter loves it. Sometimes I will give her a little. She has had episodes from it. I would try to keep it from her since she is so young she won't learn to love it. My daughter has reflux and lactose free so I know how hard it is to find things for them to eat.

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
If she can have soy my mom buys a soy cheese and swears that it taste the same. I have bought it and it is really good in things. There is a slight difference in taste if I made a grilled cheese and it doesn't have quite the same consistency but she may not notice it as much as I did since she is not looking to compare it to regular cheese. *Just read your story and since she can have soy I would def. give it a try!!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
ketchup/salsa/tomatoes wreak havoc on my heartburn. i'd pass on it, jmho. i'd try the soy cheese like pps said since you got rid of the dairy.

Thanks so much! I think I will hold off on ketchup for a while. I am REALLY enjoying my sleep!! I went to our local health food store today and got a lot of snacks that are dairy-free and organic, so I feel a little better knowing I have more stuff to offer. It has been hard for me to find things that are dairy-free, reflux-friendly, and appropriate for a toddler with only 5 teeth. Thankfully she loves fruit, and will usually eat whatever meat and vegetable we are having for dinner. I will look for soy cheese next time I go to the store. I was also thinking about trying the soy yogurt since she liked yo baby. We are going away for the weekend, but when I get back I may post again to get meal ideas from all of you parent who have been here! Thanks again!

my 2 cents also is to stay away from acidic foods. Elyse has not had ANY, and I am not about to try yet! Sounds like she has a good, varied diet though! Check out healthy times website (soy and dairy free).
