What says PAGER re: Elyse?
By bedtime we made it to 9 oz formula and (guessitmating here) 5 oz of other fluids. SHould i call the GI or pedi or just leave it alone for now? She went over a week drinking that amount on vacation and seemed fine. I tried whole milk for the first time and she wouldn't take a sip. I tried a smoothie and she took a few sips by straw (the sippie got clogged with strawberry seeds, tomorrow i will try a banana smoothie). Coys mom, yes she LOVES watermelon, and today she ate pretty much an entire nectarine and a couple grapes. I also gave her a popsicle and she ate a tiny bit of that (Kat, I gave her the whole popsicle but she did break off pieces herself and eat them that way too).

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
i'd call the pedi and speak to a trusted nurse. tell her how much she's taking in and what she's eating and see what they say. every time coy goes on a strike i drag him to the doctor and they basically say "he looks great" "isn't dehydrated" "sometimes they want more-sometimes less" "isn't the ears" "must be the teeth" then he goes back to normal after he cuts his tooth (or teeth)-remember he's on #s 7&8 so i'm used to eating/drinking refusal... if she looks & acts fine then i'd try and not worry.. i'm a worry-wort so i'm not good with this kind of advice.

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I would maybe phone in also. I think the fruit counts, but I could be wrong. It def sounds like you are doing EVERYTHING possible. They may tell you to wait it out a bit,, it will be reassuring to know tho. Please keep us updated!!

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
I'd wait it out unless you think it's more than just a strike. I've taken Katie in when I think she is barely surviving on what she is taking in and ask if she is still having wet diapers and then tell me to come back in when she isn't doing wet diapers. So I have wasted time and the co-pay for them to tell me she is ok. If she stops eating or drinking I would take her in then. We've gone DAYS of Katie taking 2 oz. every four or more and once she is off of her strike she goes back to eating. Katie refused to drink a bottle or water yesterday but she ate a cup of shaved ice; as long as she is taking in some liquid I don't worry too much.....she's gone much longer at a younger age without the added fruit!

Mila is on Peptamen JR 30 cal by NG tube. Open Heart Surgery 2/08/08. Captopril, Zantac, Losec, Lasix.
hmmmm.... 14 oz of fluid plus a nectarine ( that counts! ), grapes ( that counts too! ), and a few sips of smoothie...

Its not HORRIBLE, but I would still call... How many wet diapers did she have today? Was her pee dark or smelly? Is she pooping?

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
How is she doing now, Sharon?

Thanks ladies. The babysitter said she had 8 oz formula and 3 oz juice/water mixed (it is 4:30 here). She will probably drink one more bottle tonight and i can probably sneak in a few sips of smoothie or water. Like katie's mom said, I have taken her in before to the pedi very worried and wasted my time and money (though i have also taken her in when they told me she would end up in the hospital). But she is still wetting diapers, pooping, and crying tears so I still think she is okay. my dd has always been weird about food/drink and she has always drank way less than the charts say and she is still fine! i will call the pedi right now (I just got home from work) just in case.

well, the pedi's office is closed (at 4:30!) and won't even allow a message to be left if it's not urgent. It will have to wait for tomorrow.

It sounds like you are keeping your cool just fine...;you definitely have the right attitude about it. I need to follow your lead! It is so frustrating when these kids go on strikes like that! That's good about the fruit...she will get lots of fluid from it. As for the popsicles - I am jealous! Sebastian despises anything that is not room temperature. I have always made his bottles room temp so I wouldn't be stuck out without a bottle warmer or something, and I got screwed anyway! LOL!

Sharon, glad that she seems to be doing better!!! Buying a snow cone machine tomorrow as Katie LOVED the ice on Sunday since she won't drink water lately; which probably means she will never again want anything cold! LOL! Aren't kids great!? Glad she drank some more!
Check with your
doctor first!
