tummy meds??
I am wondering if there are any meds that are NOT antacids but treat tummy pains that i could try with emily that are OTC or even prescription (i don't care). Her Dr said he believes that her general crabbiness and night wakings could be caused by 1) teething or 2) tummy pains from CSID. I lean towards #2 b/c she never teethed or had teething pains from her other teeth. I think her reflux is being controlled well so i don't think there is need for antacids. Does anyone know if Tylenol works on intestinal pain?

I would ask your DR. I know there are Rx meds that adults can use that reduce stomach spasms but I am not sure that they can be given to children. Your pedi GI should know.

I don't know if tylenol is a good idea or not. It tends to calm my kids and make them sleepy when they have to take it. That having been said, it can also constipate which might cause reflux symptoms to flare back up.

Again, I realize this isn't much help. I would call your DR (the one who suggested that the night waking is due to abdominal pain) and ask them if there is something they can give her to make her more comfortable.

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
I wonder if Pepto Bismol would work? Are her molars coming in? It may be that those are really hurting her, even if the other teeth didn't. I think the best way to tell is to put some Baby Oragel on her gums and see if she does better. If she doesn't, then it's probably her tummy.

My middle dd had suspected IBS and was prescribed Bentyl. It helps with stomach cramping and gas. It did seem to help her.

Mila is on Peptamen JR 30 cal by NG tube. Open Heart Surgery 2/08/08. Captopril, Zantac, Losec, Lasix.
You might ask about Levsin - its been prescribed to many kids I know ( though somewhat older ) in hopes that it would lessen tummy pains. Hope she feels better soon!

thank you for your suggestions on medicines and advice. jen- i had tried to call our pedi back and left a message with a nurse but he has not returned our call, it is now friday night so i doubt we will get a call until monday. we see the GI on Aug 11th so i will ask them then. i am so on the fence about if it is teeth or if it is tummy... it's so hard to tell when shes being a normal 1.5 year old or having the not normal tummy pains of a csid kid... i tried tylonol last night with her thinking it was teeth but she was still fussy and upset. tonight she cried herself to sleep for 2 hours :(

I am sorry she is hurting. :( Wish I had some brilliant suggestion so she could feel better now!! I am sorry the Gi didn't get back to you sooner. Hopefully Monday they can get the ball rolling on making her feel better. I swear, my kids inevitably end up the sickest on the weekend. ;) Not helpful!
