Pregestemil questions to MSPI ladies out there...
It's me again, if you remember us from our last post, I spoke Dr. today who said Atalia most likely has some type of milk intolerance if her diarrhea stopped with the use of Alimentum- she has not had a stool yet in almost 48 hrs... He said though that I could try pregestemil- that it is superior than Alimentum (proteins more broken down). I have never heard of this formula- just googled it and I read that it is used for fat malabsorption issues.., also protein intolerance. So, the proteins I guess are more broken down than Alimentum and Nutramigen but less than Neocate and Elecare? The plan currently is to try the Alimentum for 10 -14 days and if she still shows significant discomfort or diarrhea comes up again to try the pregestemil. Just wondering if anyone here is on it and if the assumptions I made above are correct. Thanks a bunch!! Sorry i can not post to anyone else, gotta go,

Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!
We were told that Progestimil is in about the same class as Alimentum from our GI. But I could never find it, so we just stuck it out with the Alimentum. I HOPE that Atalia is feeling better soon!

Thanks! My husband is allergic to soy and peanuts and pollen..but this started as an adult, when he moved from Miami to Tampa (as far as we know). My dad is allergic to pollen...but no infant GERD in either family, no milk intoerance in either family. This is all new. I am sooo glad your little one is doing better. God bless!

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
I've seen it a couple of times, but I always thought it was in the same class as Nutramigen. Let us know how it goes if you switch. Thinking of you!!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
it's in the same class as nutramigen and alimentum. just made by a different company. remember tho some kids do better on one as opposed to the other.. so maybe it will be different for her.

Bryson (3/06), former Neocate, Nexium, and Reglan baby. Diagnosed with peanut allergy and asthma. Weaned from meds in Spring 0f 08. Brother, Parker (6/04), was also on Prevacid and Pregestimil (formula) as an infant.
We used it!
Hello! We used Pregestimil for our oldest son after Nutramigen failed us. Our GI had us switch and he stated it could take up to 6 weeks to see the results. As far as it being in the same family as Alimentum, I could not tell you the difference. It worked for our oldest but not our youngest. Still after 6 weeks on Pregestimil, Bryson had explosive diarrhea. The only place we found it was on Ebay and our grocery store (Bilo). It is very difficult to find! I hope this helps some. Sorry I can't tell you more about it. It is made my Enfamil which also makes Nutramigin. (I think). amanda
